Bliss.
^This.
This, but remember, anonymous is a vengeful prick, and soon after we'd probably all be e-mailed with the personal information of whatever fed/judge that got the site shut down lol

And yes i know anon isn't a single person, but you should get my point

^ This as well. Anon is an idea, and ideas are bullet proof. It does a good job of getting important web/real life news out into the viewing eyes of the public.

And there are those individuals that do their best to get the word out in any possible way they can. Whether some want to believe it or not, Internet activism is important. It's become increasingly more important within the last few years, since the government is trying to control something that no one man or entity should/could have the power to control. The Internet is a public access domain, with roots in every section of the world. It easily accessible, and has become a standardized form of communication within this last decade.

Anon recognizes this and speaks for those that believe in the personal freedoms and rights that everyone should be allowed to have. Don't be afraid to speak your mind. Doing nothing is the worst thing you could possibly do in a time of crisis. You have a voice, so let it be heard.

Feds are really messing with the bull! And to think I was so happy the other day. I'm glad AnonOps is on this. And I agree that mediafire the best for small files. But I always use megaupload for larger files.

How make megaupload into a great site:
Get a free account
Get megakey to awesome speeds between 5 AM and 5 PM PST
Get adblock to get rid of the ads
Properly set up your popup blocker
Use megamanager/Jdownloader to download your largest files

Considering they seized the site, I definitely wouldn't log in. They may trace your IP and hack into your computer to see if you have anything pirated on it (and they would too).

Now where will people get delicious cake? Oh, yeah: any other media hosting site.

Considering how MegaUpload and MegaVideo would take down content through DMCA requests just as YouTube would, I don't see these charges sticking. It's not like they can manually inspect every file that a user posts. Just like Facebook can't: they rely on users to report content that violates the ToS.

And if the damned media producers would just get on the ball and ditch their old business model this wouldn't even be a problem. either host the files yourself and support them with commercial breaks and banner ads or license it out to other to do the same. Just like with TV, but on demand. You know. Like TV. On demand. And DVRs. Shit, viewership spiked when DVRs came out. Seriously. 10% increase for Fox alone.

this is probably only the tip of the iceberg for this month... apparently more followers on twitter support anonymous, and i quote from the article_Twitter users are being tricked into joining Anonymous cyber attacks on U.S. government - and could be jailed from mail online website

"Links being forwarded via Twitter actually make people's PCs part of Anonymous's 'denial of service' attacks against U.S. government sites and anti-piracy organisations.

The links are being forwarded as part of Anonymous's recent 'Operation Megaupload' - a retaliation for the U.S. government 'taking down' a file-sharing site.

They look like ordinary web links, but launch cyber attacks from whatever PC you access them on. "

(if this article is completely factual),I have no idea how they are going to arrest that many people, or at least half of the followers without some sort of mass protest happening.

Damn. I never used Megaupload for much, but I'll miss Megavideo. It had one of the fastest buffer rates. All well. We still have videobb, putlocker, videozer, and the others. And the thing about the steady march of capitalism is that with Megaupload and its associated sites gone, something else will take its place. The government may be figuring out better ways to appease its corporate lobbyists, but at the same time, technology will adapt. Every law has a way around it.

Still, the fact that they were able to get around Megaupload's third party uploader defense even when it had a decent moderation system is concerning. Megaupload is no TPB. It actually was actively trying to fight piracy. The fact that the government was able to act in a way that it previously refused to because of the law concerns me.

All well. Maybe Maddox is right. Maybe once we see shit go down, we'll actually see some change.

You're missing the good news: SOPA AND PIPA ARE GONE NOW. The fed simultaneously withdrew SOPA and PIPA while proving that they can still stop piracy any time they want.

IF only that were true, That is a short sighted view on things. In law, this case can be used as a basis to get all of those other websites taken down. Basically (if the courts say what they did is legal), it will most likely happen again.

It will be interesting if A.C.T.A. plays a part in this take-down, or future take-downs.

They are not gone, there are just less seniors/people in the house supporting it. It gets voted on either sometime in February, or January 24.

I think people (but probably mostly kids) associate the Internet with being a freedom. The Internet is not a freedom no more than a strip club or a party bus is a freedom. You have freedom of speech whether or not you are denied access to a given site on the Internet, and whether or not you're allowed to post XYZ onto the Internet.

I think kids who literally have never known a world without Internet think it has something to do with with freedom. It doesn't.

Also, on a related note, if you're under the age of 18, there's a reason you don't get to have a vote on legislation or laws -- because until you are an adult and actually living in the world you only *believe* you have any idea what it means to live in the real world.

I was against SOPA and PIPA, but I swear when I saw all the little 13 year olds protesting it as well I almost changed my mind. You're a fucking child. Go play with your fuckin Legos or something.

SOPA and PIPA suck it *so long as* the government continues to burn, crash and destroy these havens for pirates and their criminal activity. Shit isn't free in this world unless you're living in your mom's basement.

You want to protest something, how about fucking wild animals being captured and skinned while still alive for some crusty old bitch's coat?

Or maybe the uninformed fucks over at anon haven't even seen Earthlings. What a waste of a community effort so much of what's being protested these days is.

Yeah I'm talking about people I actually *saw* who were under the age of 18. That, I think is a major problem. A child should not have a voice in enacting legislation because they aren't old enough to understand what the fuck they're talking about. But because politicians give credence to a bunch of children protesting on their Facebook pages, you then have people who don't know what the fuck it means to run a government or society or even how to flip a fucking hamburger pattie attempting to affect legislation.

For instance, children bitching about a site where stolen things are routinely shared being taken down should be ignored and dismissed and utterly forgotten as their position is completely irrelevant.

Hopefully the next sites to be taken down will be rapid share and media fire, etc. Defend creator rights. Rapists, thieves and child pornographers can have their day in court.

You're retarded. If you guys want people to buy your shit why don't you make some stuff which is priced decently, rather than people having to pay $600 for a music album?

People don't go pirate shit just because they want to hurt game makers and musicians, they do it because internet software is ridiculously overpriced and constantly unregulated to keep prices so the average internet user cannot afford to get a virus shield or whatever software they need.

Pirating stuff is dodgy and a process filled with virus risks. The average person isn't going to download software for free without taking a huge risk, and they're driven to piracy because no-one prices their flash/ game/ music decently.

Argument summed up.

A truly profound and well thought out, intelligent perspective.

Thieves deserve prison. I don't care what their bullshit reason is for "having to" steal. What a joke. "I have to steal music, games and movies because they're too expensive." Fucking loser. Get a job.
