Soooo... That about wraps up 2011. I really have to thank EVERYONE who has contributed this year because due to the redesign, we failed to launch a single site enhancement in 2011. This will all change in 2012. January 11th will mark the release of Abobo's Big Adventure and in place of that Abobo promo we'll be introducing the REDESIGN LAUNCH COUNTDOWN. The date on this countdown will be the final, guaranteed date of launch (although expect NG to be down for a while on launch day).

Once the redesign is live and bugs have been crushed, expect a year of aggressive improvements to NG. We have a big list of features broken into small chunks, allowing for monthly deployments vs years of waiting. If you even mildly enjoyed 2011 on NG, 2012 should be like a rollercoaster ride. Or maybe that's a bad analogy since we're gonna go UP UP UP without ever coming down... So I guess it will be like you died and went to heaven. SEEYA NEXT YEAR!!!

Newgrounds has certainly been a bright spot amongst the chaos.

It's strange that while 2011 has been an extremely calm year for the website it was quite the opposite. I think it's great that the redesign is nearing completion - I'm very excited to finally hear that it's on the verge of completion along with the new features it will usher in through the door. Bring on the new year. :D

As of yesterday there's 31.3% of the icons left to create, so in the past few weeks we've gotten past the two thirds done mark. The majority of the flashes that do not have icons are relatively obscure, so temporarily I doubt that they will receive much attention while everybody finish off the final chunk. Thus long as, like is done now, all new flashes require them the problem shouldn't be getting worse, and with the pace of a few people (Asandir being a prime example) the percentage is rising quickly. I intend to dedicate a single day of next month purely to going through and creating icons, and plan to create 150-odd just in that day, in addition to my usual more gradual speed.

I have a list of some that still need doing from years ago but some of them are from still active uploaders, so yeah, there's still some work to do.

As for the ones that pass judgement, I try to beat the rest of you to them.
