Best Album So Far... 2011-05-13 16:06:04

Okay, so we're nearly half way through the year.

The question I pose to you is this: What would you say is the best new album you've heard so far this year?

You'll need to think about how the band has progressed, the standard of the songs and playing, the production quality of the album and overall presentation.

Personally, I think Funeral For A Friend's latest album "Welcome Home Armageddon" is the finest new album I've heard this year so far.

But what do you guys think?

House of Balloons by The Weeknd

Easily one of the most evocative R&B albums in the past decade

I second this statement. Lotus Flower is my favorite track atm.

Vendetta Agonizing's new album that is in the works. I've had a bit of a sneak peek, it's good shit. Best I've heard from the underground all year.

Released albums though, so far... Fiasco's Kill Tha Show 2011 album, Draztik's Dead Broke album, and that's all I can think of.

Majority of the albums that I've been looking forward to have been really dissapointing. They're not bad, but they weren't close to my expectations.

So, based on what I've liked so far, I would say Ravedeath, 1972 by Tim Hecker.

I didn't listen to many albums from this year, but I've heard a lot of tracks from James Blake's full length album and I am more than pleased with it. He's a fantastic musician as a whole and I encourage you all to give him a listen.
