Anyways, I feel you on this. I've lost someone that was like the equivilant of a parent to me, a friend, and about 3 other family members; it isn't fun losing someone close to you. But, after you realize that you have to move on, it makes you stronger. You've already been hardened, which is good for this situation, but once one of your friends/ your girlfriend loses someone, you have to be there for them, because they most likely can't just shrug it off. One last thing, be there for your family.

I'm sorry to hear thar, especially as my dad has suicide thoughts, ones he shares me with. I couldn't imagine getting a call about him being dead though and that's with me knowing how he feels. I know I wouldn't cope well so it must be extremely tough for you to not really expect it.
