The Manchester Meet was fantastic fun and I'm now really eager to come down to London in August and meet some of you guys again. Sadly, after checking what I have on around that time I've run into some complications.

Assuming the date is definite, I'd want to be in London for the Thursday to Sunday this time (4th - 7th) and maybe even the Monday if there are still people around. This is where the London meet looks less likely for me now though. The resits for my university exams are held on 4th - 12th August and we don't get given our results until around either mid June or mid July, I forget which. So I won't know until much closer to the time if I can commit to coming. If the results are given in June things would be a little easier to arrange I guess, but I can't remember when we are given them. Even if they released the timetable for the resit exams early it would help me to know whether I could gamble booking up in London, but they release that timetable after they give the results. It's really ruining my hopes of coming.

I am genuinely saddened by this. I met so many great people in Manchester and was hoping to meet you all once again later this year. It's not even been a full day since I last saw you folks and miss you already. Hopefully I will pass all my exams and still be able to come down to London. If anything, this has given me motivation to work a hell of a lot harder at uni from now on.

Already said I was coming, I'll come up on the Thursday and will stay relatively near to whichever hotel you will be getting Luis. Also I'll be bringing my girlfriend, would like some company on the travel there and back.

I wasn't suggesting the dates be changed, if that's how it came across. I was just saying that if my exam resits are definitely confirmed to be at the same time as the London meet, it's going to be hard for me to book in advance. It would have to be last minute thing, assuming I don't actually need a resit or I get lucky enough to have the resit on one of the later dates.

Like I say, I'm really hoping I don't need a resit and I'm fairly confident that I shouldn't be needing one. It's just a gamble for me to book in advance now, given the timing of the two events.

I appreciate the confidence boost. Hopefully we get our 'unofficial' exam results for the first semester soon. They're only unofficial because they've not been printed on a certificate yet. If I've passed all of them I'll be fairly confident with the second semester's exams which are at the end of April I believe, but we've only just started the second semester and it doesn't seem like it's going to be too challenging. Modules do tend to get a lot harder as the weeks go on though.

I'm just over cautious I guess. I tend to consider the worst case scenario most of the time. I'll post updates in here as I get them anyway. Still plenty of time to get things in shape.

If there is ever a Toronto / Montreal meet or something around that. I could possibly join. I think it'd be fun, but as for the London meets. Maybe when I'm a millionaire with Golden helicopters that hold even bigger golden helicopters in my diamond encrusted Hella-Carrier.

Actually, The Ice Wharf in Camden wanted ID on him but he said he lost his wallet and is a regular of that pub so he got in with ease, unlike someone with an expired passport such as myself at the time, lol.

Can't you get the bookings insured so you can get your money back if you couldn't make it in the end? I've had tickets insured for some of the live shows I've been to incase anything happened and I had to miss out. Surely it's possible to do the same thing for hotel rooms and travel arrangements.

It might be worth booking on Megabus ahead of time, then giving up the tickets if you can't make it. Not the best legroom but the prices are cheap enough to risk writing off.

You make a good point Bez. I've actually been considering flying to London. It's a little more expensive but it would save me a lot of bother. I think Kieran was telling me that it cost him about £40 from Glasgow to London last time he flew. I'm quite happy to pay that if it saves me 9+ hours on a bus. I'm not so sure whether I'd be willing to gamble £40 though.

Megabus was actually pretty good. Better than I had expected. I managed to snag myself a double seat on both journeys. Plenty of legroom for me.

I've been further for a meetup than London, so sign me up!
