You don't need a whole lot of tools to make traditional animation for the internet in fact all you really need is a scanner, a shit load of paper, a computer and the program gimp.

I thought it was rather neat and more people should see it.

I really like the ghetto drawing board idea, I may do that myself sometime.

ok, what you really need:

digital camera/webcam - and some means of holding it about a foot or two above a desk.
computer - and a linetesting program like ernest.
pice of perspex and lamp, or a full on lightbox (they are easy to make)
pegbar!!!
already punched paper (recommended) or a means of punching.

A scanner can do the same job

The program gimp is freeware

The lightbox in that movie was made with a shoe box.

I'm pretty sure that was already covered in that tutorial

A scanner also generally has a larger file size against an properly optimized camera, and lower quality. So really a camera works better. That's why people like Barfquestion use cameras instead of scanners.

A camera is faster then a scanner so the job can get done faster.

a scanner will do the same job, just 100 times slower and not inline with the other scans.

i didnt say that linetesting programs cost anything did i?

making a lightbox out of cardboard and floppy plastic is useless, a sheet of firm perspex and some sorta cheap wood would be much better.

finally, this tutorial is really unprofessional, follow it if you like but no one has ever made good animation fast with a scanner let alone all the other shit.

I never tried that yet and actually recently installed a video card into my computer, bought my own animation desk and all i really need to do is get some zip lock baggies.

I can easily create animation cels out of zip lock baggies.
