Okay, so I know that I'm way late, but I had to see what's with everyone and Half Life,so I have just rented The Orange Box and beat Portal. I am now moving on to the three Half Life 2 games and I'm wondering what I should know about this game/games or general thoughts from veterans. Give me your thoughts, Newgrounders.
I don't quite know what information you're looking for here. Just play through and experience everything for yourself. It's a good game with a few puzzles and an interesting story.
Oh, and in episode 2, the "Little Rocket Man" achievement is a bitch.

Have you played the first Half-life? If not, things can get really confusing at times, but just stick through with it. It's a really solid FPS experience.

Some of the Half Life games are in the Orange Box, Garrys mods pretty much a mod that has all the character models, maps, props and tools from Half Life and a bunch of other of Valve's Source games and it lets you do sandbox stuff.

I recommend also getting HL1 and its expansions. They're very cheap on Steam, and awesome shooters.

I've never played the first Half-Life, and I understood the story perfectly.
I just don't understand why the combine are after Gordon or what he is doing there. Or who the creepy guy is at the beginning who tells you to "wake up".
So far I'm just running from them and not getting any fucking answers!! BLARGH.
