Yes, listen to this guy.
Even though I'm a mod I always PM the author to let them know I've completed their icons for them, just so that they know firstly that the new layout is coming and they are able to change them, and that they are officially done.

It gives them options to either keep them, or change some of them for themselves. You'll never guess how many authors I've had replying to me not even knowing about the new icon sizes and that they would want to do some of them on their own, even if they keep some of mine that I have made.

Again, I'm willing to do some icons. I haven't done them in a while

Nobody needs to request for icons. As Tom said in the Icon Mod Crew Thread, it would be great if everyone went to their favorites list and did all the icons of the author of their top few favorites.

An Icon Mods job is not just to wait around for people to request them to do their icons. You have to really dig deep and find inactive authors around the site and do the icons for them, it's the only way to fill in the blanks.

Oh well. Then I should try checking out my favorites, and the best flashes ever list, and try to do icons for flashes that do not have any icons yet.

But I'm pretty sure most of the authors won't even read my PM's. Only one person who had a flash in the top 50 list replied to my PM, and added the icon. Maybe I should try making icons to not-so-inactive members?

OK, I've uploaded it. By the way, when you're doing an icon for a specific flash, I think that while you're at it it would be great to tackle all of the author's flashes, especially when it comes to popular artists. Just my opinion though, because having someone with a few icons and a lot of icon-less submissions looks really bad.

Does this mean the icons for flash submissions can be submitted as .jpg files as well instead of exclusively for .gif files only? (it would make it easier)

I think PNG keeps the image quality perfect but the file size will be higher.
