I have yet to see Gone with the Wind or Titanic. I just don't have that many hours to dedicate to watching a movie that I might not like.

My list is way too long about which classics I've never watched. To sum it up: I've never seen a Star Wars movie. None of them.

I made a list of 250 Popular Movies I've Never Seen.

I watched them all over the space of a few months. Not just classic movies, but high acclaimed, very talked about movies.

I was fed up of holding a conversation before it turned to: "YOU'VE NEVER SEEN THE GODFATHER?"

Piece of shit, anyway.

Well the list of classic movies I have not watched yet is probably very long. I mean I've only seen about 1/3rd of imdb's top 250 and then there are still many outside of that list which could be considered 'classics' as well.

But to name a few of which I am actually a little bit embarrassed that I haven't seen them yet:
The Godfather (trilogy), The Usual Suspects, Indiana Jones (the first three), The Silence of the Lambs, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Green Mile, Die Hard and Robocop.

Meh that doesn't seem like a movie everybody has to see at least once in their lives.

The Wizard Of Oz;
Gone With The Wind;
Casablanca;
Rebecca;
Eyes Wide Shut;
Goodfellas;
Cape Fear;
Casino;
Unforgiven;
Barry Lyndon;
and of course, many other films. That's the thing I hate about trying to be open-minded: I want to see; hear; read pretty much anything I can. Since I'm a massive film nerd (and I actually want to go into direction and writing as well), I'm obviously going to have a keen interest in many films.

I've never seen any of the Godfather movies or Saving Private Ryan. I wanna watch Citizen Kane, it's one of the classics that has an understandable plot IMHO.

I've never seen any of the godfather movies, I fell asleep half-way through Scarface and I've never seen Citizen Kane all the way through.

I've watched 10 times more movies than all of my friends combined, but I'm the only one who's never seen The Wizard of Oz. We were talking about it in English class, and I had no idea what anyone was talking about.

So Newgrounds, are there any classic movies that you've never seen?

Same goes for me except it's Alice in Wonderland. My parent's never bought it for me when I was a kid. I probably would have been like, "What the fuck...?" anyhow. Without the swear or course.

Yeah I have never watched The Wizard of Oz, or like Citizen Kane. I mean, I would watch them...but I don't think I will have the patience. Maybe if I saw it with a couple of friends.

The Godfather.

I'm sad I haven't watched it actually but it's one of those things that I just keep forgetting until I'm reminded of it.

I agree with what you're saying, but the plane analogy is a bad one. You can't compare the development of works of art/entertainment to the development of technological creations with practical purposes. It's totally different. The quality of the latter is determined mostly by the technology available and is influenced by the people who make it, whereas the quality of the former is the other way around.

Basically, artistically talented people have done and continue to do great work that holds up in time regardless of time period and medium. So while I agree that it's stupid to discount more recent films from being considered "classics" just by virtue of their age (though you do have to give a film enough time to see whether or not it has real longevity), you also shouldn't discount much older films, because there's some great stuff from the earlier decades of cinema that can easily be considered classic without having to point to its historical significance or justify your praise with "...for its time" (for me personally, The Wizard of Oz is always one of the best, Casablanca is probably in my all-time Top 5, and there are even a handful of silent films that I legitimately enjoy).

But as for the main topic, there's a lot I haven't seen, but I guess a few of the big ones are Gone With the Wind, Lawrence of Arabia, Apocalypse Now, Raging Bull, and Raiders of the Lost Ark (though I've probably seen all of this one in bits and pieces, but I want to see the whole thing at once).

There are a hell of a lot of classic moves I've never seen and likely will never see. I love movies but for some reason I just don't get round to watching them that often. Probably the movie I've never seen and most want to watch is Blade Runner, which I've owned on HD-DVD for at least a month now and have no idea when I'll actually watch it.
