Technology going back in Time 2009-11-19 07:31:39

I've always fantasized about what it would be like to send random objects back to various points in the past and observe how people react to them.
Ex. Sending a modern PC back in time to when simple text generating computers took up rooms.
Ex. Sending a machine gun back in time to when America was first forming.
etc.

What, if possible, would you send back in time and to what time period?

Quantum Computing is kinda like this. Computers manipulating data throughout time. Backwards, forwards etc...

Ex. Sending a machine gun back in time to when America was first forming.

God no. Rather get rid of weapons rather than giving them to people who cannot engineer them

Trip to the future to get a replicator, then back to the past to give to hungry people.

This is a Prime piece of real estate below.

I would send a scary horror movie (or maybe a not so scary one :P) to a time when "The Great Train Robber" was considered scary, back near the beginning of film.

mac is older, they even had a lawsuit against microsoft and they should have won, then computers would be all much better nowadays.

I love when threads turn into "LOL MAC IS BETTER, NO WINDOWS IS BETTER, WELL UR A FAG!"
Fact: No one cares about PC wars anymore.
Anyway, I'd send back a Xbox 360, HDTV, and HDI cables to the early 1900's.

Mac is not older, Mac OS was introduced in 1984. MS-DOS was in 1981.

Think about that for a second.
What're they gonna hook it up to?
Tvs didn't come out til' much later let alone any input for HDI cables.
Shit, HD tvs haven't even come out til' quite recently.
But it might be nice to see wtf they are supposed to with a white box and cords.

Personally, I'd go much further back, to medieval eras possibly, simply to see what they do with the "witchcraft".

It'd severely fuck up the flow of time and development of technology, but yeah it would be cool to do something like that. Imagine sending back up to date medical equipment and books during the Civil War. It'd probably make the war last longer because of better treatment of wounds. Sending a microwave to the early 1800s would be cool too, or sliced bread in the middle ages.
