Guy from the 40's Mar 9, 2009

A little early morning hypothetical question to get our minds rolling...

Let's say, for some odd reason, a random guy from the 1940's suddenly time warped to our present day. With no real knowledge of HOW he warped here, he is forced to adapted and live among us in 2009. What would you do to help him understand the world of today (the future)?

For arguments sake, he's a 34 year old American, from.....ahh.....Downtown New York.

Do what now...?

Was he in a different location when he warped,or was he still in New York?
He'll probably adapt easily, but he might go through some slight insanity from the realization that everyone he knew and loved is probably dead.

He would probably be shot down and killed in the first day, Why you ask, well saying he is a typical american from the 1940's he mostlikely ins't agressively racest, but most likely he would say something wrong to the wrong person, and well...they would shoot him. o.o...morbid but simple

I've actually thought about this, but for some reason, in my scenario, it's Geroge Orwell sent to the future just before his supposed death.

Anyway, I'd sit them down, give them a quick crash course of history up to today, and then explain the interent to them.

It would be like an even worse version of Life on Mars.

It would be like George Orwell teleporting to 1984, he would be disappointed.

The reason they call it the American dream is because you have to be asleep to believe it

Well, firstly i would put him in a car, and go faster then 10 MPH. then i would tell him that hitler isn't killing anymore jews, then show him the internet, and set him free into the wild.

If you are reading this, it means I have posted. Whether or not I am still posting, this has left its mark, for many years to come.

Let's start by disarming him, informing him that Al Capone is now dead and that the Prohibition Era has ended (if he didn't already know).

Just to be cruel, I'd sit them in my living room. Turn on Fox news. Hee.
Put the living room PC on to 4chan, and another tab of Google. You know, just to be nice.
And laugh maniacally.

Then ask him if our routines were similar at all from his firsthand experiences.

My grandpa is 80+ so he was in the war and he has adapted anyway.

I would help him adapted. But considering all his loved ones are dead It would be pretty hard.

Since those happened in the 30's, I'm sure they'd know.

I'd tell him to fuck off back to America.

This too will pass.

Actually, your wrong. The proabition era ended in the 30's (which is why I said "incase he didn't know), but that didn't stop the organised crime. Also, Capone didn't die until 47.

Same thought, I'd purposely tell him right off the bat that we have a black president and watch his head explode.
