X generation, rise from the ashes?

First I have to say that I'm from Spain, which has always been a country that has mixed the new international influences with it's traditional costums (and please don't imagine a flamenco singer singing "iron man"), and I only have the american society's knowledge that I can take from movies, series, books and the media, but what I want to know is something that only the americans newgraunders know:
Is the X generation returning to the american society?

Kevin Smith, Christopher Nolan, Zack Snyder, Jon Favreau, Sam Raimi, Guillermo del Toro, Michael Bay...
They are people who was born on nearly ages(except Sam Raimi) and are giving back to the people those works of art which had its succces with the X generation: Batman, Spiderman, Terminator(I hope), Watchmen, Transformers...Maybe a new age is comming to Hollywood with those directors, an age which has it root on the X generation and maybe they will remember us how marvellous it was. So, is something changing around you?

PS: Today I've seen Watchmen, and I've noticed that you have to know a lot about movies, history and art in general and see it more than twice if you want to discover and understand all the references to something, for example, the most obvious, the scene of the fight in Vietnam.
