I'm being dragged out bowling with friends today because I couldn't think of an excuse in time to avoid going. I mean, they're truly great friends and all - it's not that I don't like them - but I am highly introverted, and hence I am not into that kind of stuff. So damn it, I want to go back to not having a life. I miss it already and I haven't even left yet.

What's new? I see lately people designing Kontakt patches and VSTi. Feels nice not to be the only one (well, with Maestro actually making the Kontakt patch for the choir).

I've doodled with that and got hung up in an overly ambitious accordeon setup. :( NG audio death match is on, and I guess activities a bit lower with school starting up for a lot of people.
I missplaced my $300 earplugs yesterday... now I got to look everywhere to find it :C
on top of that, I had no time to do hw last night :C

Blue Yeti Microphone
Another generic microphone question; doesn't warrant its own thread so I'm asking it here. I'm wondering if the Blue Yeti is a good microphone for a hobbyist who wants to take up singing (not me, a friend of mine). Would it produce acceptable quality that, with a little noise removal and mixing, will be presentable in a piece of music? Is a pop filter to go along with it absolutely necessary? More importantly, are there any cheaper alternatives that still provide acceptable results?
My friend likes singing and he also does podcasts and Skype voice chats often, but he's on a pretty low budget so he wants to make sure that the Blue Yeti is a good idea first. A bit of advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can't tell you about the quality of that microphone, but I can tell you that you don't need to spend much money on a pop filter: http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Cheap-Microphone-Pop-Filter/

Well, i own a Blue Snowball and it's a really decent mic for it's prize. It's the one used for the recording done in the song in my sig. And the Blue Snowball is cheaper than the Yeti, so i guess the Yeti should be better.

I caution going that route only because it has zero future potential and you have to basically start over anytime you want a new microphone. It may be a significant price difference to get an audio interface and cabling for a normal microphone but it allows you to chose from a much larger array of microphones and it allows you to add to your system in the future without having to be limited to USB mics and without having to buy an A/D converter everytime; Overall becoming a better future investment and considerably higher quality initial investment as well.

So now you're actually a father.
Must be wonderful and frightening at the same time. Can't even begin to imagine how it'd feel.
Anyway, congratulations! You actually did something productive with your sperm, yay!
