I know. I had to have a quick fap before I posted that one.
I might throw a background on this one and art portal it because I spent more time on it than usual. We'll see.
Long time Sock! I'm sorry if I don't have any useful comments. I just wanted to greet you. :3
Bro, I totes forgot about it, but Dark reminded me. So I'm reminding you.

Last time I showed up it was me, Sock and someone else, and Sock was asleep, and I was stuck drinking on my own.

Hey Fifty! Loving all the colourful stuff you've been doing lately.

Yeah, I totally remembered last night but I had already made plans to go and get drunk elsewhere. Also I hadn't made a poster so it would have been very much pointless.
PMs are also for squares.
We're so cool we want it all out in the open, for everyone to see. Not in a gross private message. Ew, lame.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah! I'm so sorry, I've failed you. I might as well just kill myself... By exposing myself to an oxygen rich environment for many years and gradually aging.

I wasn't sleeping. I had my eyes and mouth closed to keep all the liquor from pouring back out.
Downloaded Paint Tool Sai. Trying to get used to the tools. They are so much different than PS...
Some lame practice pic. I just don't feel arty lately... :\
Used a friend's facebook pic as reference (the likeness is shit)

Another terrible portrait. Same deal. Was the prize for guessing who the last portrait was of.
I'm doing this landscape of my friends cottage from memory. I'm sure it's totally off, but hopefully recognizable...
Anyways, c&c would be very much appreciated because I have no idea what I'm doing lol

I think I might call it finished at this point. Getting a little tired of looking at it.
Try heightening the shadows, maybe? Like in the corners. For contrast and stuff.

Might do some studies before moving into doing them without ref.
Mainly you need to sort out your atmospheric perspective.
That means the greyer it gets to the horizon and the more darker it gets when closer to the viewer
Also rippels on the water and mud. And like jess said turn up the contrast in the front.
sun would shine through leafs and grass, and wet mud should also refelct it.
basically: what flowers said. Take a look at the value scales I drew in; you only use maybe 60 % of the available values.
by adding some shadows and making the sun white you can give the thing more vibrance.

oh also: you don't really have any big contrast areas, which makes it look a bit dull; increasing contrast like at the shoreline on the right makes things stand out.
I'm liking those brushstrokes on the portraits, really nice.
Other the contrast there is somethin strange about the perspective on the landscape there, me thinks the horizon is too high for the angle the camera is at.
Still keep up the awesome work
Wow, thanks for all the comments and advice, guys. Really helpful. I'll make some adjustments to perspective and contrast later.
I did some minor adjustments last night before reading all your comments. I messed around with the colour and adjusted the contrast a little, but I'll definitely take one more stab at it now that you've all given me some direction.
Thanks again.
I was digging through some old sketchbook and I found a couple drawings of these characters I drew a few years ago that I really like. I was going to do something with the idea like a comic or animation of some sort but ended up moving on to something else. Decided to do a quick paint. Might do more cuz I still really like them.

Just messing around:
Designing a character for the sake of designing a character. Thought you guys might find the progression interesting. I'm getting closer to the look I intended, but still have a bunch of tweaks to make. Also practicing painting without lines. Because I suck at it.
