Charming Creature of Myth

I ended up on deciding to start all over again on the first of two themes for this unicorn character. I wanted something really pretty and magical, with the feeling that there's nothing to worry about... Within the main world setting within one of the RPG Maker game projects I have in mind, it is (for the most part) unkind towards the character you'd play as. This particular game that I haven't come up with a name for yet will have some different story paths to take. One of them involves encountering and gaining an ally; a charming and beautiful stallion of a unicorn. A gentle-equine of sorts, who'd make a first impression to be trustworthy and fight alongside the playable character--for a time!

I don't really want to reveal too much about this unicorn character, except that he is both intelligent, and an opportunist. Also, he's not someone to be fully trustworthy of! Again, this is one of two themes for this unicorn. I'm not sure if I'll share the other one once I've finished it. (I'm a little picky about which game OST tracks of mine I'd like to share ahead of time, before either game is complete and ready to be playable to anyone.)

There's this really awesome VST I found online earlier today, known as Dexed. You can download it for free. It's got a whole lot and a wide variety of FX, beats, bass, and other instrument parts to try out! I haven't explored through all of them yet, but I definitely like some of what I've tried so far, including the vibraphone/music box in one on the VST that you hear. I played out this melody, practiced it some, and then recorded it on Audacity. While breaking the entire track up into parts, I thought, YES, this is the really pretty unicorn theme! This is it! Then, I tried to put together string chords to go with the second half of the track, but I couldn't make it work. After a time of contemplating, I decided to just keep it to the one instrument, and put all the parts together. After all, there's some harmonies, and sweepy chords too. The original version of the chording was a bit loud, so I lowered the volume.

I don't regret the decision on not to include strings after all, and feel pretty good with the final result. :D
