Mar 2022 - De-essed vocals, changed levels and panning

Rap for my momma since I ain't been home in a while. Mom if you're reading this I love you.

I wrote these lyrics out a month ago, only had a chorus until I started writing a beat and changed a pronoun. This is the result. Software discussed below. Lyrics are in the order written. Critique welcome.

It's been over a year now and I'm in another place

I could try to find a way but it's complicated

I wish I had the time since I graduated

Only took six months to forget the smell of cigarettes

Now every other smoker got me sniffling cause I let

Too many damn emotions govern all the thoughts in my head

about the happy memories you missing now that I left

been a year and a half now I'm bout a half as sane

another six months and I smelled your favorite cigarettes

Remembered how I hate em but it was a fucking blessing

Software: Mixcraft 9. Almost exclusively freeware VSTis. Exception being Avenger synth for applying white noise to a hi-hat and one or two leads. The rest are Surge (free), run through a lot of OneKnob and compressors.

All percussion is freeware. USSR Elsita drum machine with settings in Russian, various hihats and kicks. Molot (hammer) compressor. Aggressive Drums VST for snare. Crash VSTi for auxiliary crashes. Cymatics impact sample. 99sounds hats for layers.

Bass, CS One bass and Ob-Xd, layered with KSHMR Essentials Kick for processing. It just worked. I actually think KSHMR is on every percussion instrument, if not most synths. Bass signal is run through Molot and KSHMR Essentials Kick.

That distorted noise in the left and right channel is me humming into Waves Berzerk distortion and some OneKnob plugins like drive. Every vocal track is run through GW VoiceCentric and ButchVig vocals and some misc doublers and choruses. I wanted to try cronching them.

In total there are about 30 tracks. Project time, in total about 50 hours, including writing lyrics.
