A complete remaster, with some added parts, of one of my all-time favourite own releases -- one with a sugary sweet exterior and some dark lyrics for contrast. I am grateful that this remaster has come to be, as this is the only surviving FLP that I have from a previous Great File Loss, and it retained all its assets including the vocal recordings that I did on the Blue Snowball a couple years ago.

I cherish this song an awful lot. I wrote it during the immense depression that followed my AIM 2018 attempt -- the chords and rhythm came first, followed by the melody and the lyrics, and it was suited to the mood that I had inside me, contrasting with the mood I needed to keep outside. The description of the original, accessible on the left sidebar (or below if you are on mobile), gives more context behind the writing of this song.

A few changes for good measure:

  1. There is now percussion in this mix, for texture and delicious cross-rhythms. I used castanet and temple block patches for the clicks.
  2. There is an added Enya-esque bass track.
  3. There is an added Enya-esque mid-range pad.
  4. The mix no longer sounds like it's starved for air.
  5. The dynamics changes are now more gradual and make more sense.
  6. Everything finally has its proper place in the mix.

Special thanks to @LD-W and @ForgottenDawn for giving previous mixes and the master thorough listens and feedback; your help has been invaluable!

I love the retro synths in the intro. The melody is pretty. I don't know French but your voice is beautiful. I can feel the deep emotion in your voice as well as the instrumentals. Great use of effects as well. If I had to criticize I'd say the synths at 3:21 should be a tad louder. Yes they are that low earlier in the song but I feel like the song should progress somehow here. Maybe a pad or light percussion to vary it up a bit. Don't get me wrong, the song is still beautiful, I just think a little more variation on the instrumentals would benefit the track and help bring it to an apex. This goes for the last section as well. You're voice is incredible it should be matched with some kickass buildup instrumentals. I think it can be somewhat subtle, the minimalism of this piece is a big part of the beauty of it. I think you can still revisit this. Hell, I've revisited some tracks 4-5 times. I know this track is very special to you and I think it's great, but when I hear it I hear it can be even greater. Still a 5/5 though.

I cant score any lower than solid 5 honestly. the progression is on point and the singing too. i dont know any french but it sounds great x)

Troisnyx responds:

That is high praise. Thank you. 😮❤️
As for the French, the lyrics and the translation, I've included them in a GDoc, link in the description if you want to peruse them in your own time.

I shoulda stuck with FL 11...(most of my FLPs are now FL20, so i can't roll back now...FML)
ANYWAYS, is this tune featured in an album for me to grab*? I'd love to buy it if it's available. Always open to adding new music to my mix collection. Nice sexy french singing thar. Tight rhythmic textures too!

Troisnyx responds:

Not available for purchase anywhere yet, but I'll see if I can't dash you a message when it is!

Glad you enjoyed it 💖

Vraiment bon!

Your music is simply inspiring. This one especially reminds me a lot of Yoko Kanno's (one of my favorite composers) experimental style and vocals.

Troisnyx responds:

Ah, that is kind of you. 💖 Thank you.

I had Enya, Alizée and Mylène Farmer on the brain, and the voice timbre I seem to have taken is that of Alizée's in the verses and Farmer's in the choruses. I see what you mean about Yoko Kanno though, she does that plenty.
