Hello, I see that it's been basically a full year since I uploaded a track. I'll be making an effort to get up at least one track each month this year to make up for it.
This is a fairly simple orchestra sketch I needed to do quickly for a portfolio submission. It's relatively short but I was trying to give it a bit of a film score vibe (though I wouldn't categorize this as "cinematic") and practice some basic orchestration, which I'm looking to do more of this year. It was finished early in the month but I've been holding on to it so I can practice proper mixing on a full orchestral piece. It didn't go very well at all, but it's given me a good idea of how much work will need to go into improving the production aspect of my process.
In any case, thanks for listening, and I hope it's enjoyable!

Funny you should ask, I'm doing that right now lol. Would've liked to have done it a long time ago but I wanted real instruments - that's still not happening thanks to covid but I'll just get a mockup together this week!

Incredible! You've got some great composition skills! I really enjoyed the instrumentation and overall structure here. I get the feeling that you approach writing music in a very classical way... and I love it! Keep it up!

I really appreciate it! I did have to study orchestration for a while but I feel like my approach isn't too refined in the way that some of the classical greats were. I definitely like to pull from some of the early films and romantic era composers I love, but I feel like I always default to the same textures and harmonic structure. That's why we always keep pushing ourselves to try different things though!
This is fantastic! It reminds me of the music in famous Disney movies.

Thanks, I really appreciate it! I think that mixed emotion comes off as "tenderness" or "nostalgia" for me.
