I made this track for a kinda cancelled game and sadly it ultimately won't be used there. For a long time many things were unclear about the game and the only thing the guys agreed on from the beginning was that they wanted relaxing rock music. My response to that wish was "I could try" and this is what I ended up with after about fifteen attempts while getting a feel for the game and constantly having gameplay of a fairly similar title running in the background on YouTube.

Rock music is a bit outside my comfort zone but the developers were apparently happy with it and I also got surprisingly positive feedback from friends who know a lot more about rock music than I do. I especially put a lot of time and effort into the drums and bass and recorded a ton of variations for each segment as I wanted to keep things interesting and avoid a robotic feel with the same loops playing over and over. What I'm least happy with is the guitar pad that plays from the first moment on as its sound is a tad too aggressive (at least the fluty high-pitched notes).

Anyway, the goal was to create a track that remains interesting during a single play from start to finish but that also won't become annoying the tenth or hundredth time you hear it. I think I got at least pretty close to achieving that.

The plan was to replace the VST guitar here with an actual performance from a talented guitarist buddy if the song was accepted (which it was) but well, it will remain as is now that the game is on ice (at least in that form). I also would have liked to put some more effort into mastering it but oh well...
