Before I talk about this piece, I apologize that I've been away for a while. I've been busy both on and off the site, with IRL things and helping run NGADM as it begins to wrap up. It's why I haven't been making music as much, but I've got something planned nonetheless.
This piece is made for a chance to be in a potential collaboration on a project known as Discount Detectives, the idea of which came from an OG Character writing competition hosted by Fro. The challenge is to make some sort of audio for the animation, and as of posting this, the only other person I'm going against for audio is CzySzy (if you're reading this, good luck man :D ).
When I read the script that was chosen for Discount Detectives, I interpreted it as kind of a mock detective story, so I decided to go toward a genre that was typical of detective stories - jazz. The first portion is Bossa Nova, before heading into swing. The way I imagined the first two-thirds is kinda the theme of the animation, which could also be used as a transition between the office and the Museum, but the last third is moreso for the office theme. Because this is Discount Detectives, we had to do some budgeting on this, so we couldn't get another saxophone to back up the main soloist. Luckily, one of our trumpets knew kazoo, so we just gave him that instead.
Either way, hope this is a good piece! I kept experimenting with Ableton mastering instead of Audacity mastering, so I know there's more room to improve there.
hopefully more people enter, I like friendly competition
