this goes hard
One of my good friends had suggested I make this...but he only meant it jokingly (more specifically, he told me to do a barbershop quartet version of Freedom Dive...TBH, dunno how I'd do that in the first place). However, I got to thinking...this actually is something I could work with.
Deciding how to go about this was pretty interesting. I'd never worked with a song with as high a BPM as this song (222 BPM). On one hand, I could bump it up to 256 and make it some form of house track, simply slowing down the drums to fit the typical house drum beat, since 256/2=128, the usual house BPM. But the notes move way too fast for that anyhow.
Happy hardcore might've been the next move, but I at the time didn't know anything about how to do that and am still trying to learn it. So I went with the next fastest genre I knew how to do: drum & bass. Slower than the original BPM, but still fast.
Despite the genre being so much about the bass, I maintained the high ends as the defining characteristic as they were in the original. I feel like it'd lose its touch if it was more bass-driven.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this!
