Apatoma is a city in central Louisiana near Alexandria. This city is also of similar size to Alexandria. Apatoma is in an unusually dry part of Louisiana which has given the settlement trouble ever since it's founding in 1883. No information about the city can be found before 1911.
2 factors can be associated with this lack of recorded history. One being the fact that, for most of it's life, the city was just a small town. The other being a devastating fire that occurred in 1911. After the destruction of the village, the population decreased tremendously leaving only a few families to clean up.
Other notable events to happen from 1911 to 1980 would be a 2nd fire in 1919, an incident with an Asian immigrant in 1944, and a small outbreak of accusations fueled by the McCarthy era. When the LSU of Alexandria was founded in 1959, Apatoma began to see a consistent rise in a youthful population. At first, this created a divide between the aging and young in the town but the number of =young adults soon grew too big. This combined with mass amounts of agricultural land being put up for sale around Apatoma turned the town into a city. The population is still gradually increasing to this day but problems with outdated infrastructure and political divisions have become popular topics of controversy in recent years.
