Despite having none of my instruments or libraries at the moment, I still managed to write something that I feel IMMENSE pride in. I sincerely hope it is enjoyed.

Also, this track holds an easter egg/secret! Props if you're able to figure out what it is~

I like the ominous mood at the beginning. The string samples aren’t of the best quality, but I like the eastern-sounding instrument at :39 and the harmonic content. The texture is a bit thin, and at times I wished the drums had a more prominent role in it. I like the powerful brass at 1:47, but I’m not sure I like how the note cuts off right before the next one starts. The mix is a little muddy in the low end at times, especially with the strings, and also sounds rather quiet overall. Sometimes, the harmonies are even a bit quiet relative to each other. The arrangement is a bit choppy, too, with sudden transitions (like at 3:03) and not much of an overarching sense of direction. The structure of the song feels a bit cyclical after a while, and I really wanted the texture to be a bit richer at times. The piece is missing a moment of climax or arrival at the end to really hit it home, despite having a lot of mysterious tension throughout. That said, there’s a pleasant atmosphere and harmonic content here. I think the unfamiliarity of a new DAW is affecting the quality of this piece, unfortunately, and that was apparent in the mixing and sound design. Still, I appreciate your resolve to make a track despite these setbacks. Keep at it, ARealGhost! :)

Thank you for the feedback and for the opportunity, Tainted! I will keep pushing forward.

The entire track is really good! The sound design creates a very cool atmosphere. The way you mixed the orchestral parts with these robotic sounds is really interesting. If it was a track to a video game it would fit in perfectly as backround music when you walk through ruins and fight monsters. But as a individual track it doesn´t work as well as in a video game.

The track doesn´t have a built-up or anything that keeps you going as a listener. The excitement stays pretty flat, sometimes it´s goes up like in 1:45 but immediatly goes back down. The track repeats itself after 3:00 (I think, the two parts sound extremly similar) which makes absolutly sense in a video game but in a song not as much.
I think while you were making this you had a video game ruin in mind and build it around this concept rather than an individual sound piece to active listing to.

Still, it is a cool track with a very cool sound design which, for itself is kinda repetitive but still interesting, yet inside of a video game would be brilliant.

ARealGhost responds:

Thank you for the feedback! So, most of the time when I write music it’s actually meant to be in a video game. That’s why the loops are very particular and stuff like that. I honestly don’t really have any education want to comes to music so I’ve been trying to teach myself over the years. I’ll see what improvements I can make in the future though!
