I like the refreshing guitar riffs at the beginning and the pensive vibe by around :24. The progression is a tad slow-paced, but the strings at :41 were a nice addition to the texture. That said, I thought it would’ve contributed to the atmosphere more if they were a little more legato, as opposed to cutting off before the next note came in. The production quality here is also solid, with a well-balanced texture and clean mix. The choir at 1:20 is nice, although it sounds a tad indistinct at times, perhaps because of an excess of reverb. One of my main problems with the piece is that the structure seems very flat. I think you needed some sort of bridge or breakdown at some point to give this piece more shape. Otherwise, most of the variation in the piece comes from the addition and subtraction of instruments over time, which is not very advanced. That said, there is some nice harmonic variety at 2:55, and I like the addition of the bell-like synth to the texture at 3:35. The solo at 4:12 is awesome - it sounds like there’s finally a sense of resolve and catharsis in the texture. Overall, solid work with the sound design, mixing and mastering, and melodic content. Things to work on include giving the composition a stronger sense of ebb and flow and maximizing the emotional appeal of the track. Keep at it, Aterr! ^_^

Aterr responds:

Thank you for such detailed analysis and constructive criticism!
And also, I am very happy, that you and other people (here on NG) enjoyed this overall.
I am making now a checklist for the song, and will spend some time in future to improve it, based on the criticism I received here. :3

Very nice atmosphere and idea.
Needs improvement of guitar recording - sometimes guitar sounds out of tune.

That's a very decent piece of music. It's well recorded for what was recorded and for the soundbanks used. The big problem is that you didn't put any rythm-main-melody variety in a slow-rythm song, so I have the feeling it is too much repeating. Without this flaw, I would surely pu a five star, worry not.

Aterr responds:

Firstly, thank you for the feedback and for time spent on writing this. It means a lot to me! :)

And in general, I agree with you regarding the drum part of the melody.
I am now working on another thing, and don't have time to focus on this one right now. But be sure, I will do it right after current affairs :)

Very good track, very epic, I love it! The sounds you used sometimes sound cheap (like the choir or the violins) but eh - you don't have to buy expansive stuff if that's not where you want to go, since this sounds still good overall. I'd just say that sometimes there's a bit too much going on, and the distorded guitar kinda blurs out interesting parts of the song like the plucky melody starting at 3:34 . But still great track! (btw I love the melody starting at 4:11 :O )

Aterr responds:

Thank you for the feedback and I am glad you enjoyed it generally :3

I am using only free vst's and I'm kinda noob in mixing, so you are right, it could sound much better without some blurry part etc.
But little by little I'm moving forward, and mixing part is quite difficult for me. You know all those eq's and stuff :)
But anyway, I am doing the best I can

so cool, what scales did you use in the main riff? I like this "thriller" type of scale but don't really know how to use it.(sorry for the bad english i`m brazilian)

Aterr responds:

Thank a lot :)

To be honest, I don't understand guitar scales. Probably it's a Minor Pentatonic Scale, not sure.
