Sick Stuff My Dude!!!
This is yet another attempt at mixing Dubstep and Drum'n'Bass, like in Devastation, but I also tried to approach that epic atmosphere that could be used in some fights. The drops here are actually in 180 BPM, as opposed to the rest of the track in 140.
Tonality is D-moll. And yes, the transitions kinda suck... And tbh I didn't really do a lot of mixing around the second drop because I thought it already sounded good. I don't know if that's true, though.
Be sure to express your opinion in a short review! I want to know what flaws do I leave in my music.
Sick Stuff My Dude!!!
Thanks!
piano in the intro can be a little softer. lacking some high freqs in instruments. what is that thing at 0:33 because it destroys the other sounds through compression. need some more reverb. orchestral drums needs more low freqs. the tempo should be slowly built up so it doesn't kill the vibe. serious unbalance in freqs. repetitive. overall quite a mess really.
Not sure how to make that piano even softer than it is. Thing at 0:33? I suppose you meant the snare, not sure which compression destroys anything else. About the reverb, I thought I already put too much... Specify where do you think it lacks reverb the most.
Now, the tempo. How the hell do you even build it up slowly? I just recorded the drop in 180 bpm and put that fragment in a 140 bpm piece, that's the only way I can achieve it. I have no clue how to speed up or slow down things in FL.
Repetitive? Well, I guess it kind of is, didn't really seem more repetitive to me than Devastation or something. I tried to add new things wherever its possible.
Now, everything you said about the frequencies. My ears aren't yet experienced enough to hear how EQing changes the sound at all, not mentioning for the good or the bad. So when I start a new track, I'll probably mess everything up by using your advices because it will be quite a different one.
Quite a mess? That's... somewhat fair. Not sure.
So now I just want for you to notice a few things. I'm strong at making melodies, harmonic lines but NOT mixing, mastering or sound design, it's all so new to me and I'm quite unexperienced at it yet. Additionally, everything I mentioned I'm bad at is inituative and it can only be as good as your ears are. My ears don't really hear a lot of sound changes unless I put a reverb there, and by trying to make the thing sound epic and aggressive I make a mess. That's fair, but I've no clue how to get rid of it yet. Weren't you going to give criticism at the melodies or such as well?
And yeah, I'd really appreciate if you taught me how to change the tempo in FL.
I enjoyed it. Great tune to listen to, when doing something tedious at work!
