Here's my NGADM round 1 submission.

Experimental dnb stuff - again somehing new for me but I tried to keep it videogame-ish.

Spent a lot of time on this one and learned a lot, was really a fun experience.

Hope you like it!

Very cool VGM piece with DnB beats. There was a lot of variation and kept me interested throughout the whole piece.

Little nitpick:

There was one synth that I didn't like which is the saw-synth at 1:18. It has a bit too much on the high frequencies.

Overall I'd suggest lowpass filtering any high frequencies you don't need in the track, so it sounds less muddy in the highs. It will make the whole track sound rounder and a bit more polished, I think.

Still a pretty cool piece. I think it would fit right in an intense battle sequence.

endKmusic responds:

Hey!
Yeah, that ravy synth. I did cut / lower the highs though - sounded even more harsh by default.
Thanks for the review and suggestions!
Glad you dig it. ;D

It seems I enjoyed this a lot more than some of the others so here I am to share my thoughts on why I believe this was the stronger track in this group.

From the start you've caught my attention with cool sounding synths and percussion which opens up perfectly. You've fully prepared the listener for the next section which delievers. After that, you continue to change it up but at no time does the piece lose its flow which I find super impressive. This is a great example of transitions done right.
You've included so many different themes and ideas in this that there's always something new to hear, a new texture to discover, a new bass and rythme line to tap my foot to.
Furthermore you've peppered this with the occasional slower section to allow the listener to rest. The only repetition I heard was useful to help build the theme.

In terms of production you've mananged to marry so many different types of sounds from synths to brass among others and it sounds super coherent. Nothing takes over the rest. A very balanced mix which isn't too loud or harsh in any way.

On so many levels this was a really impressive track that I genuinely enjoyed. I'm impressed at the attention to detail and amount of work that went into this.

Scores are weighted so that comp and prod are 75% of the score:
Composition: 9
Production: 10
Enjoyment, atmosphere, replay and all the other odd stuff: 8

endKmusic responds:

I'm glad that you did. :D
This one sarted as a sound design experiment actually, wanted to focus on things like that, but couldn't resist some of the orchestral sounds + fast beat. That's pretty much it.
Thanks for the review and compliments, this one really did took a while to finish. :)

Catchy stuff as always, EndK. I especially like that DnB drum fill at :11 and the little rhythmic riffs that fill out the rest of the phrase between the melodic sections (prime exposed example at 2:26). I thought the transition at :55 was a bit jarring, though. Not only do you rapidly change instrumentation, but also the mood of the piece. While your melodies, sound design, and production are always killer, that's one thing I've noticed in some of your tracks: the structure seems a bit thrown-together at times, and the pacing a little fast. Overall, though, this is really strong work. I love the full texture and brass stabs that come in at the chorus. Keep up the good work, and good luck in the ADM! ^_^

endKmusic responds:

Yeah, that's one of the things I have to work on, especially in the last two songs.
Thanks for the review as always TL! :)

One of your best songs I do say. The synths sounds nice, there's a lot of variety, and it's just a fun song. I suppose the volume is a tad inconsistent, but it's only a minor complain.

Nice work overall :)

endKmusic responds:

Thanks a lot Bertn!
Totally get it.
:)

decent.

watch out on your volume levels. Your synth leads's volume aren't consistent.

kick drum has too much low end.

awesome melodies and riffs.

keep it up broski

endKmusic responds:

Hey Seq!
Tried to tie it up as hard as I can but yeah, I agree.
Was kinda hard since there was a lot of stuff / layerz, different synths etc.
Will do.
Thanks for the input! <3
