I started this song two years ago, when I was still writing and recording vocals in my tiny little closet. A memory popped up in my head as I was scrawling some lyrics down.

A few years ago, my parents received a message from an acquaintance who happened to be a pastor at a church. They found my YouTube channel, browsed through some of the videos, and decided to write a message expressing their disgust. They wrote, in very plain terms, that my music was spreading the work of the devil.

I felt badly that my parents had to read something so hateful. I thought about it. Am I spreading evil through my music? No, I decided. I’m just spreading a different way of thinking, a different way of embracing love. If man can love God, why can’t man love another man?

After contemplating these thoughts, the words started flowing. This song is very much inspired by my relationship with my boyfriend - one that’s been full of love and learning despite what some may say.

Thank you guys so much for continually supporting me and my music - it means so much to me. I hope this song brings a smile to your face, makes you want to get up and dance, or gives you hope that wherever you live, you can someday feel free to love the person you want to love.
