What happened to those nut jobs rambling about alien and Illuminati? Are they out of their mind. Truth is, the conspiracy theorist movement have been smeared from the beginning. It was a CIA operative who coined the term "conspiracy theory" to attack those who dare to look into government and military secrets.

Plenty of conspiracy theories came out real: false flag to start Vietnam War (Gulf of Tonkin), covert wars creating terrorist (Dirty Wars), forced suicide and self assassination (COINTELPRO), mind control (MKULTRA), proposed false flag against Cuba (Operation Northwood), NSA mass surveillance (ECHELON), global mass surveillance (PRISM), Monsanto GMO (India seed modification), Canadian involvement in creating Agent Orange/Blue/White, military released biological weapon in San Francisco and the most insane of all, chemtrail (geoengineering & cloud seeding & controlled agriculture). Fun fact, many of these came out via leaks or declassified info. Who's crazy now?
