DC3 a new generation

This started off in life as a song which stu made back in '04, which had a very heavy euro dance vibe to it. He recorded a chunk of the piano on a Yamaha CS-80, which he made his own patch for. He has over the years tried and tried again to recreate the infamous piano line but never got it to sound like the original so never bothered to make a remake of the project, until yesterday where he came in with a sample, which he made in combination of Serum and Velvet, so for our weekend project we have been recreating "DC3 piano". We did a bulk of the compostion yesterday and we have been mainly mixing it today.

This ended up being over a forty track project, using VST's like Vanguard, Serum and Hypnotic dance, we have in turn made a quite powerful dance track which retains elements from the original, but with a lot more low end, as well as using updated synthesisers and hardware. We used Orange Vocoder, I don't like using it but the EMS vocoder didn't fit the project, and we had used the VP-330 by Roland in the past to varied success, but it seemed that we got quite a clean signal out of orange today, so we just went with it.

Stu is the main composer on this track and it has because of this started to sound like a combination of 80's and 90's dance, retaining its euro dance quality, but with heavier synthesis. This track has the same kind of kick that stu's Concept 1 has to it. We used drum samples from the studio's drum kit, as well as some kicks which where from stu's A3000 sampler. Stu played a roland digital clavier and played in all the piano parts live.

We really hope you like this track, as this one effort to make and mix.

This was a really good attempt at a remake and the mix doesn't sound too bad, I tell you I don't like the vocoder. just don't believe we got bombed out again, and when I came around here earlier it had five stars!

fireball01e responds:

When you come around the studio next weekend I'll show the PM I got literally after it was bombed out, they admitted it. and they basically stated that this kid couldn't make music, got poor scores, so why should we? He also stated that didn't want this song front paged like what we got last week with "The Grid", he said "The Grid" was a poor song and didn't understand why we had front paged. I personally thought The Grid was a really good song and was a bit of a conceptual song in the fact that id never mixed down that many tracks in one go, and got it to sound pretty good. I don't particularly think its fair at all, but what you going to do about, diddly squat.
