Kinda sounds like something I'd hear in Earthbound.
Made In FL Studio. 140 BPM.
This song never started as a dance song. It probably would have been electro, but it just evolved into a dance piece. The song then focused on incorporating other dance elements and finally focused on creating a catchy chorus that I could manipulate to keep the listener engaged. I'm going to break down my creation process and what I did so anyone commenting can use it for reference.
Also, following some advice I've been given, I actually took a listen to the piece before considering it "done" and removed some excess cymbals. I hope it worked out.
Personally, I'm really proud of this piece. I'm using the BassDrum and DrumPad plugin for the percussion and they sound a lot better than the native samples. I'll be sticking to these for a while until I accumulate some extra wealth that I can splurge on some better percussion samples. The percussion itself doesn't get too complex which is usually against my style (especially my DnB pieces) that I've developed. Anyone who's heard my DnB pieces is free to comment on how this percussion in this piece stacks up against the rest of my work. I think it fares much better than anything else I've done before.
I used the 3x Osc for the lead and it's kinda obvious, at least to me. I think the simplicity of the plugin works well with the piece. I added some distortion using Effector and then managed the sound with Parametric EQ 2 (I actually used this EQ to help shape all my sounds. Hopefully I'm using it properly :P ).
I used Wasp to handle the bass and Poizone for the chords and rise/drop. Finally Sytrus handled some of the other sounds.
All in all, I think it's not too bad. It's pretty strong in my opinion and fills out some empty space when necessary. The melody seems pretty good, the bass supports the 3x Osc to help it deliver the melody and everything else works towards creating a *hopefully* pleasant sound. Let me know what you think! :)
Kinda sounds like something I'd hear in Earthbound.
I can kinda see what you mean. Unfortunately, I haven't actually played Earthbound, so I can't say anything about what you mean with a great degree of certainty. Needless to say, I'm glad you still enjoyed it! I truly think this is one of my stronger pieces and it's nice to see that I'm not totally wrong about that!
Cheers,
