Alright here it is!!!! I was knocked out but came back in via dropouts so I'm here to make it count! Hope you enjoy

----------------------------------

To help get into the piece here's some background:

The world is growing darker and it's become so dark and filled with so much evil that a warrior needs to come out of the shadows and into the fight. Throughout the whole piece you'll hear the cry of good humanity represented by more of the organic instruments fighting to balance the oppression of evil represented by saw'd and distorted synths.

Made in about 15+ hours in FL studio using downloaded and original presets used for the following VST's:

Massive
Kontakt
Sytrus
FL Drums
Other downloaded electronic percussion that I forgot where it came from

Again I hope you enjoy

Really interesting fusion of styles here. Choral, church organ, synth, metal styled drums. I can't really pick out any specific sins other than perhaps a very dry piano and somewhat of a bare melodic scape. Everything seems more rhythm and less melody.

Spadezer responds:

I appreciate the kind words. I'm curious what you mean by "bare melodic scape."

Thanks

I like the atmosphere at the beginning. The vocals are beautiful, but the rhythm of that synth bass at 1:08 seemed a bit wonky and uneven. A couple of the other synthetic instruments in the piece weren’t my favorite, like the generic trance pads in the background at 1:45. The piece has a good sense of atmosphere throughout, but the sound design choices are really bothering me by about the 2-minute mark. There’s also the synth at 3:55 that doesn’t fit the texture very well IMO. I did think the piece was well-structured and smooth-flowing, perhaps with the exception of the transition at 4:38. Pretty solid mixing and mastering, too. Keep at it, Spadezer! ;)

8.25/10

Spadezer responds:

Based on the feedback I'm getting, I think I've made a piece that amplifies people's tastes, but at the same time managed to be mostly pleasing to everyone.

I can't believe I missed the wonky bass rhythm at 1:08. It's so obvious now. Ugh.

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the mastering, I made sure to spend some decent time on it. While again other people say there's "something left to be desired," so I imagine that there's still something that could make it pop more.
Yeah, sound design. Like I've said in the description I tried to symbolize more 'evil' elements using digital ques here and there (I also decided against glitching the drum thing near the beginning because I couldn't spend the time to get that right).
It's a shame you didn't enjoy the synth at 3:55. It's like my favorite section.

Thanks for the feedback. It's nice to see a score from someone that's above an 8. See you in round 2.

Glad you were allowed in. Interesting song. Original combination of instruments I'd say. The only nitpicking I can do is the instruments sound a little clean and like presets. Maybe you could've dirtied them up a little (or perhaps that's just my taste) I think the drums could've been more hardhitting. Quite a good song for so few hours. The halveway point is where it really starts to sound good I think. There's a lift that takes it to another level. It's those powerfull chords that do the trick. Way to go.

Spadezer responds:

Sweet. Good to hear. I'll admit, I don't spend much time tweaking presets. I just take what I find and run with it. Thanks for the review and good luck.

Some very nice melodies here! I enjoyed the pace of the track too and the choice of instrumentation. I can't say that I've heard many instances in which a church organ and synths are fused. Awesome stuff!

Spadezer responds:

Thanks eterealwinds. I guess I'm now the expert in combining unnatural instruments/rhythms into pleasing listens.

But, I may have this thing for organs. Especially church organs

I really enjoyed this. It's a complex track but it's easy to follow. It's rare that I get such a great impression of a song from my first listen. I'm glad you managed to get in and I hope you do well!

Spadezer responds:

Alright. Cool to hear. Thanks for the kind words
