The story behind this one is pretty simple.
Embertone announced their new competition:

http://www.embertone.com/strangerthemes/

I decided to enter, so this morning right when I woke up, I spent a bit less than half an hour making this short piece.
But upon further inspection of the rules, it's clearly waaay too long and comlicated to be an acceptable submission for the first round. So I just decided to leave it as it is, and upload it here (because it sounds pretty neat, right?).

The velocities can sound a bit rough, as this was recorded on my synth, as opposed to the usual electronic piano recordings.
I hope some of you decide to enter the competition!

Thank you for listening, and have a lovely day/evening/watever ^ ^

*Late comment* How is this "Failed" ? it's amazing :) I love it! you did good mate

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks dude! It's just that it doesn't fit the criteria for being handed in to the competition :)

Very lovely piece!^^ Composed in just a half hour?! I'm amazed at what you can accomplish in such a short time-frame! Well, it's the competition's loss that you were unable to submit this fine work. :P

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Sometimes when inspiration hits, I can compose with lightning speed. Other times, I'm Sluggy Mac Slugface, but it's alright either way :)
Making music is usually pretty fun, after all ;)

Thank you for listening! :DDD

This sounds like the kind of song one would expect to hear at the end of the movie when the protagonist reaches their goal. I personally think of a movie about a dancer or skater, and I visualize the character performing with this song. The style reminds me of anime-music. The velocities sound great to me, and I like that there's a clear distinction between melodic notes and chords.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I totally get what you mean with that! It actually has a similar feel to another piece of mine, which I made for ending credits for a project, so you kinda hit the nail on its head!

Ice Skating and Anime cretainly brings Yuri on Ice to mind :D
Not my favorite anime, as it has its flaws, but it's watchable :)

Nice job on noticing that distinction! I intentionally made it so, as this was originally meant to be submitted as a theme for others to use ^ ^
Thanks!

I can see how this would be too complex as a contest entry, but I'm sure you'll come up with something that'll work. It seems like you could always break what you already have here down into simpler, more bite-sized thematic elements, but I suppose it's probably easier to just start over again from scratch.

Well hey, you got a beautiful piano track out of it either way, so there's definitely an upside! Thanks for sharing, and best of luck with your contest theme/melody.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I'm sure I could break it up, but the thing is, I've grown attached to how it sounds right now, so I find it easier indeed to start from scratch :)
I've already come up with another theme anyway ;)

I'm glad I was inspired to make this out of nothing really! Sometimes it just happens, I suppose!
Thank you for the review! I hope you're doing okay!

I think you should still try to upload it for the contest, you could send the first half or second half of the song. It's very pretty :)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thanks, dude! But it would have to be even shorter than that, and with even less arrangement, so I find it's better to create something simpler from scratch. Especially since I've already shared this, and submissions should be anonymous :)

•Theme submissions should be recorded with one instrument, without any arrangement, orchestration or production.
• The Theme does not need to be long; make it as concise as possible.

I'm glad you liked it though, thanks!
