Day of Yearning

This track is a sister track to Day of Reckoning, which was released in 2012 (see the left sidebar). Technically the synth line was not sampled, so much as it was rewritten note-for-note in the exact same way I wrote the other track.

Day of Yearning was meant to be a calmer, more reflective version of Day of Reckoning, but I'd hesitated to put it up. Then the Great File Loss of 2014 came. And then two years down the line, this became one of many files salvaged when Seán brought a HDD back to life. It's short, it's simple.

Right as I started to type this review it felt like time just slowed down to a halt. The song is just so tranquil and calming, I could fall asleep and think for a rather long time to this song. Not really a way to improve this song, absolute perfection.

Great for some kind of Sci Fi ambience. Good work :)

Its a great song to think to

Really good ambient track ! well mixed (I mean, it sounds like a song that can be used right now for a video game for example). Very nice !

Troisnyx responds:

Thank you. It is intended to be used in a video game, actually... I only hope that one day, that game can be finished and released. I'm no programmer, so there's that.

I hate it when data gets lost. Great track to revive! Loops perfectly. Most artists now a days get that digital arp sound with aid from a machine so kudos to writing it out! This track reminds me of something you'd hear out of a Final Fantasy sound track :)

Troisnyx responds:

Funny you mention Final Fantasy, because Final Fantasy X (the original OST, not the HD remaster) actually influenced a lot of my soundtrack-writing, along with Kingdom Hearts and a few other things. FFX in particular had this part orchestral, part synth, all MIDI sort of sound that felt like it belonged either in late 1990s enka music, or on the PlayStation 1.

Really glad you like it ^_^ That arp was fairly easy to write. Kinda doesn't help that when you're classically trained in piano, one of the things you're drilled into doing over and over AND OVER AGAIN are... well, basically, arps. What used to be the bane of my existence seems to fit perfectly here.
