Funny story.

This is the track I originally made for the NGMT contest. This was before I realized that it was supposed to be jungle themed XD
So I totally put this aside, and worked for a short while on another track instead.

The track you're now listening to, may very well be the least creative track I've ever made, at least in recent memory :D
I made the entire thing in approx an hour, and I think it shows quite well. But because of the repetitiveness, and the nice sounding instruments, it can still be decent background music, so I decided to upload it anyway.

Hopefully, I'll have another full track for BRUCE uploaded tomorrow though :)

I love the use of mallets - there's something cryptic, yet comical about them, and the progression and repetition just fits them so well. The panning is a nice touch, and I absolutely concur that this is great background music, especially for a video game. I also think it starts to lose it's luster a bit after a while, especially when there are so many layers that the listener starts to lose a sense of climax. I might've started to crossfade some of the parts in and out intricately, just to add some dimension to the additive quality later in the piece. You also could've led up to the ending a bit more effectively. Still, if this is the "least creative" piece you've made in a while, that's pretty good. ;)

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Yeah, I agree completely with you there. Music like this would fit perfectly in some kind of comical animated mystery, even if it's a bit long-winded. It's true that the build up stops working well after a while. But this is just a simple track which I made in a super short time, so I put shamefully little effort into it. I regard it as a fun experiment though!

I hope I'll get to do something similar, in a more fleshed out piece, with tons of more elements to it!
Thank you for reviewing this, and most of my othe stuff! On to the next one ;)

wish it was a little longer and maybe a slight a variation but i really liked this good luck on NGMT

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :)
Yeah, I swear I will do something similar in the (not near) future, but with tons of more effort put into it.

Nice! Real quick: Simple enough and that's perfectly fine even with the repetitive progression if it's a good one. It reminds me a little of Philip Glass's work in Candyman. Would have loved to hear more of this piece progressing down, down... to the depths of the Abyss.

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

So this is the track everyone has decided to review now? XD
i was on the fence of even uploading it, but within 10 hours, I received 6 reviews. Not bad. I guess that it is really the instrument choice that makes this track. The sounds is nice, and as it's only percussive intruments, the mix is pretty clear.

It does resemble his work there a bit, nice catch!
If I had made this track with serious intention, I probably could've made it so much better, and much deeper. I will probably sometime in the future make a more interesting percussive composition. Thank you for checking by!! :D

Great now I'm stuck between your jungle one and this one. haha. I like how ambient this one is, but the jungle had such a neat groove. In this one I feel like I walked into a mansion and a skeleton in a top hat is asking me "would you like some tea?" *slowly pulls chair.
Anyway. This doesn't get boring to quickly, and the new subtle and noticeable changes throughout give it a nice character!

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

I know that if one really wants to, once can find a jungle sound in this. But the atmosphere is too different from what one would expect a jungle to sound like, I feel.
It has a bit of a light horror/comedy sound to it for sure :P

Thank you for your review :)

I love this!!! It's great! Reminds me of skeletons playing each other, lol

LucidShadowDreamer responds:

Nice visual there! I'm glad you like it despite its simplicity :)
