Five outa five :)
Yea...so I will use this song in GMD. Thx 약G비밀!
The first thing I noticed about this song is that the sounds are a bit amateurish. Your synth patches sound unoriginal and preset-like. I'm sure there are some original patches in here, but for the most part it was quite lackluster. I'd also like to point out that the orchestral string sounded awful, specifically at 0:13. It wasn't so bad throughout the rest of the song though.
Your drum samples sound very familiar, which to me, is a sign that you need to think about: (a) Tuning your drum samples to fit the melodies, and (b) Adding effects to your drums. I guess the samples themselves do fit the song though. The cymbals used in this song don't sound too great - maybe increase their pitch, and filter out some of the lower frequencies. Lastly, before I quit bitching about the drums, I didn't really like the snare that comes in at around 0:40.
I did like your use of ascending/descending noise. The vocal sample ("Spin it again") was humorous (in a bad way).
One of the strong points of this song is its melodies. Good stuff. It gives off a cheerful vibe without sounding super cheesy, so well done for that.
The strong is, altogether, structured quite well. The intro could have maybe been slightly better; it took me a second to get the gist of the melody, perhaps due to the delay on the squarey synth. As for the ending, I thought it was a little abrupt.
One of the biggest problems with this song is the lack of control that you have over the volume of every individual element of the song. As a result, the finished product sounds unprofessional. If you take anything from this review, let it be this: you really, really need to learn about mastering.
I realise that this review is quite negative, but don't be discouraged by what I say. I personally am not massively skilled in music production, and a lot of this is just my opinion. So I'm sorry if some of this is dream-crushing. I'm a harsh critic.
After listening to this a few times, I'm curious as to what your inspirations were for this song. Also, how long have you been learning about music production?
Nah, thx for your earnest advice :)
Umm.. I started learning piano composing when I was 7 years old (6 years ago).
I received my teacher's help till I was 10 years old, and after that doing by myself.
Then I learned of FI Studio last year by chance.
And I'm doing piano composing and using FI Studio thenceforth.
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
