NO SOUNDFONTS

-------------------------

I've been wanting to tackle this theme for a while, and finally, I've gotten around to it. After my Team Rocket mix, as well as my Johto Champion arrangement, I needed something else to do... well, aside from the ones I submitted AFTER that, BUT REGARDLESS, HERE IT IS. I hope you guys enjoy it, despite it sounding rather simplistic.

Shameless midi conversion -- but the instruments sound decent enough.

Shiverwar responds:

Actually, if what you're saying is what I think it means, meaning taking a MIDI and directly pasting it into FL, that is not what I did. I actually had to follow along with a video to make sure I got it right, and the MIDI would not have had some of what I added into it. Sorry to say, sir, but your review is rather unfounded and baseless. Thanks for the attention, though.

This is one of my favourite battle themes from Generation II, and I like this arrangement very much; I find it feels a bit more like the Pokémon Stadium 2 arrangement (where it is used as the battle theme for the Elite Four, with the Johto Gym Leaders instead having a remix of the Wild Pokémon Battle theme), and, like that one, I think it would fit the Elite Four better than the Gym Leaders. I find it interesting that the instrumentation appears to combine the Pokémon Stadium 2 and Generation IV-era sounds (though I do not know if this was intended), both of which I like better than the Black 2 and White 2 arrangement, which is a bit slow (though, admittedly, not as slow as in Stadium 2), and has a rather strange instrumentation.

Nothing jumps out as amiss with the sound, or anything else, as far as the technical details are concerned, though I do not profess to be an expert with regards to those.

Shiverwar responds:

Wow. This is the first full 5-star review I've had from you in a long time, and in the time I've known you, I know you don't make reviews without giving them some serious prior thought. I was actually just translating the theme to my usual symphonic rock/metal-like style, while adding in some extra flares, like the reverse cymbal, rising and falling harps, and the like. I did find the Black 2/White 2 arrangement to be somewhat lacking, and the HG/SS arrangement did the original justice, though it could have done a tad better than it did, but it's still pretty nice. I went according to the original theme from the original Generation II games, so it has the simplicity of the original.

Thank you for your reviews, as usual. Forgive me for being unresponsive to them. Times have been rather difficult as of late.
