I'm loving all of this, when i was listening to it, i literally spaced out and was only focusing on the music. Definitely a relaxing/chill piece. I could see vocals working with that too. It would be awesome to hear a finished version with vocals.
The only things that caught my attention was that cymbal sweep kinda thing that I heard every now and then. I think that could be a little less in your face. Maybe lower the volume a bit so it doesn't take away from the music as much.
If you could check out my song it would help a lot :)
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! Yeah I'm working on it a little right now, trying out a few different snares and high hats and such, and one of the things i did was bring down the cymbal sweep. It was actually starting to make things clip a little haha.
I'll check out your track, but if you're looking for reviews, you should post your track here: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1342843

I really like the guitar sound. Nice and calm with a lot of ambience. The pads you use are also quite cool. I understand why you mix the guitar so low but without the vocals you want to add it sounds a bit empty at the moment. The drums are much to dominant and since there is not much variation or dynamics in the drums it sounds a bit repitative. I also would maybe use some other drum samples, maybe less synthetic ones. Or use some real drum samples and mix some synth drums below. I guess this would fit the atmosphere. I definitely like the reverses you use here and there. It is hard to say something about the mix and mastering as long it is just a work in progress with the main part (the vocals) missing. Anyway, I guess this will be a nice calm piece when it´s finished!
Yeah I feel you on the emptiness. I guess i could bring up the guitars and just have this down as an instrumental until I find someone to do vocals, but i don't know how long that will take me(to find someone to do the vox)... I can definitely work with the drum sounds though; again, they were supposed to be kind of monotonous but behind some rap-vocals, which could be used as another rhythm track as well as a vocal track, but yeah, still need to find someone bla bla bla. I think what I'll end up doing is adding a simple track of acoustic sampled drums under the meatier parts, and fade them out when it goes quiet in the middle. I was wanting more of a dynamic change there anyway, and that sounds like a perfect way to make it happen, thanks for the suggestion!
Nice, I like the vibe your going for! Reminds me of the cure mixed with boards of Canada. Everything's well.mixed and the arrangement was good however o think you could've added a bit more instrumentation as some sections felt empty to me. I liked all the fills you programmed with the drums but I personally would've used a different high hat. One with a bit more high end sparkle.
Nice job, I liked it :)
Yeah the instrumentation is a little lacking because i want to add some vocals, but I'm thinking i might just make this a little more pretty instrumentally and release a different version when I manage to find someone to rap for me, whenever that will be. And now that you mention it, the high hats so sound too... big, and deep. That'll be an easy way to spice up the track for sure.
Thanks for the suggestions
