Shame the game will not see the light of day.
Hope you get to show off proper soon :P
Hey everyone! Good news! I got fired from my job!
Why is that good news? I mean, okay yeah, it's not good news for my wallet. But it's great news for anybody who likes listening to the random tunes I've been putting out for the past few years, especially since I feel like making a go at writing a few covers like I had years before. But that's a description for another song :P
This is the Asteroid Belt level song for the game I was working on that died. More backstory on the sound design of the game: Originally the musical composition was entirely 'True 8-bit' centric, meaning I had exactly 4 channels (2 sinewave synths, a square synth and static track for drum sounds). That's how every single one of these songs was originally written, but they each evolved to have their own somewhat distinctive sound VS the other songs depending on how I wrote them. The 'True 8-bit' thing officially died when the lead programmer on the project asked me to add in "More slidey glide high pitched things", which you can hear in this song, 'Boss Battle' and 'Unnamed Title Track'. But when I included this high pitched synth, I also began layering alternate synthesizers on top of my preexisting 8-bit synth sounds and leveling them to sound like a different synthetic instrument entirely. And that's what most of these synths are: An 8-bit synth emulator with a modern synthesizer under/overlapping it.
So there's some extra backstory if you were curious! And yes, I know, this song has been on my Soundcloud for like a week. But that's the kind of prime treatment you get from me when you follow me elsewhere: PREVIEW POWER BABY!
Okay anyway, thanks for listening (and reading to this point if you're still somehow paying attention) and I hope you enjoy this or any of the other deadgame songs I wrote!

Hah, I think putting it up on Newgrounds to give it the chance to be enjoyed by at least a few other people should count as "showing it off proper", but I do get what you mean.
And although I wouldn't want to use the song if someone else ended up borrowing it for their whathaveyou(game/movie/erotic audiobook) and then somehow we ended up actually making that game... I'd just write a shitload of new songs :P
But thanks for the review as always!
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
