I haven't heard the original, but I really enjoyed this cover. The production is actually pretty decent for an understated track like this. The guitar sounds good, the vocal mix is nice, and the woodwind was great too. Nice harmonies as well. Cheers!
The guitar sounds crispy and clear, point up there. :)
Like Seprix said, I'd wish the lyrics would be more clear, but I myself don't know how to master those yet. Search it up somewhere on the web, I should do the same. :)
The flute is incredible, I love it, ONE MORE!
The "aaaah" at 1:44, it's alittle sad that it's autotuned, but oh well. :)
Also, the voice getting put over at 2:29 is too loud in comparison to the rest of the mix, you should (as said before) find a way to master this so it fit with the rest or leave it out, in my opinion.
Everything said is me trying on constructive critism, I'm sorry if I pushed some bad buttons. :)
Nah dude that what are reviews for dont worry hahahahaha
1:44 clips were touched a bit with melodyne (like everything) but nothing big, it still sounds pretty good (what i had to do is move the different clips up and down, i only recorded the C note Hahahahaha) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/93823550/Do.wav
Thanks for the feedback ^^
That buzzing is really throwing me off. I think it's your guitar? It's a nice tune though. I like the flute. Another complaint I have is that the voice is a bit hard to hear. I think it could be boosted a bit or a bit louder, or perhaps lower the volume of the guitar a bit.
Mixing voices is hard, and I can't really help much, since I am not experienced with it.
I am noticing that the voices clip, and parts were recorded one at a time, not all at once. I don't know if I like that or not.
The flute at about 2:20 is getting annoying, because I've heard it already. There isn't something new there. And the voices that repeat after that now sound dull and boring, even though you've added something new!
I think a bit more could have been added for texture, like perhaps a pad or quiet strings at some point. Maybe that would have ruined the acousticness of the song, but I think it would be a bit better.
I rate this song a soft horse out of ten. The vocals are very nice, but are harder to hear than the dominating guitar with the buzzing.
(I hate being overly critical. Meh.)
Nah dont worry everything you point is 100% valid, i recorded this almost a year ago, i was barely getting a grasp of the guitar in that timeand it was in that era were i just began getting the hand at mastering.
Yeah, vocals were recorded one at a time (I only have a condenser mic, we have to record every instrument separately hahaha) and when we mess voice clips we just keep which one sounds nice :3
I should give it a shot to this song again, but it would would pester my YT channel, i already remastered it once hahaha (Trust me, you would have been driven crazy with the old one, it had white noise and an even more harsher buzzing)
Thanks for the feedback ^^
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
