Try using not just 1 instrument, but multiple instruments. Like a electronic, or a dubstep :)

Sometimes I do that. This one I was just playing the guitar on the steps thinking about some things that were happening and then went and recorded it.

This song isn't nearly as bad as the score makes it out to be.

However, it wasn't anything incredible either. The melody feels like it isn't able to say what it wants to. I would highly suggest checking out the works of Boux to see how a song like this can be done spectacularly well.
