A taste of the orient

Lets take a look! You've established yourself as a bit of an acid technician, because you're always doing it really well. The lo-fi bass you bring in later works well to keep the momentum alive.
As usual, your breaks are awesomely produced. I wish I knew how to get such variety and motion in my beats. Are you using the Dr. Rex lane thingie to trigger segments of a sample in Reason? I used the program briefly a while ago. It was damn cool, much faster workflow than Live.
Anyway, feel free to keep your trade secrets clandestine...!
The track seemed to stall at a couple of junctions, nothing severe, just an inkling of a thought. I kept thinking maybe some delicious pads would really suit a track like this.
Oh yeah, the flute was awesome. Gave a lot of life to the track. Can't beat that kind of expression sometimes.

P.S Can you give some clues how you got such cool glitches and edits at the end of 'SkatMunchingTerroristBreak'? I'm beggin' ya man!

nice

Yep, this is another nice trk. I find the intro very drawn out and a bit boring though, not enough going on to hold my attention. Should get into it's groove a bit quicker. I'm not really a fan of the ethnic or panpipe sound when mixed with electronics either.
Like the acid bassline though, and the drum chopping is good, but i think the trk lacks something. Prodigy reminisent style bass line, i like the end section the most, even if the drums sound a bit familiar, think it should get to that section faster.

Splagawaga responds:

interesting criticism's about the track. i think your right about the intro it needs to be halved and the slightly more solid drums should come in sooner, im surprised u didnt like the flute section i thought it was the most redeeming feature of this track myself. the double/half time im really pleased with.

but then again your definately right theres something lacking about the tune and its really hard to put ur finger on what it is. i think compositionally it could be better. but i racked my brains trying to arrange this one well and i think the idea just got too burnt out in the end....which is a shame.

thanks for the review.

anul whiplash(?)

u knows i loves its. the drums are wicked in the flute bit, should record a mix thru daves live tool, would be the shnuts
;ped

I liked it - mistakes or not

Straight 9's on this.

I loved the way you changed it up with the asian flair in there.

I've always been a big fan of the shaku-sortof-hachi bits - was that done in Reaktor's steampipe by any chance?

Nice job - Mistakes or not, this was still an excellent piece - I usually love the tracks with a lot of contrast and this one had it - Very laid back ambience with the wind and yet still maintained very high energy levels with the percussion.

5/5!

Splagawaga responds:

speedy replies aswell today :P

the flute part is actually sampled. my family are good friends with the local japanese restaurant and the manageress leant me a cd of japanese flute soloing.

absolute gold i can tell u. for a small fee i may be able to pass some your way :)

u may not have noticed, the final drop and bassline arent quite right. another track i couldnt fix at the time and cant be assed to go back to. gg
