Hey.

I'm fairly new in sound design and some of its features greatly intrigue me. Binaural beats, for example, and their effects in our psyche. After watching some tutorials, I finally got how to make such beats and I decided to put them into an old drone-y track of mine, just for fun. I first got in this while listening to the annoyingly odd-sounding "Lavender Town", Pokémon, protagonist of an old urban legend, the Lavender Town Syndrome.

This tone is rather "subliminal", being put at a fairly low volume in contrast to the song. You can still hear it as a sustained note, possibly buried in the mix. It's a stereo track with two different tones (432 Hz on the left, 437 Hz on the right). This difference between the two is what makes binaural possible, due to our brain being stimulated differently according to how bigger the difference is. Here the difference is 5 Hz, so I guess it would fall in the Delta waves category - the ones that *could* stimulate sleep or dreaming.

What do you think? Does it help you relax, sleep or focus?

It doesn't help me go to sleep.

It think it's becasue the frequencies get too high. It they here maybe muffled some more or less high i could see it being nice.
other then that, great track, has a really nice feel to it =]

KKSlider60 responds:

Thank you, I can see why. :)
It could still work as a base ambiance for some creepy space fiction, lol

Wrong Place?

I can appreciate what you are trying to do, but this sort of thing you have here doesn't seem like it should be on newgrounds. I feel that it should be on another website that features more things like you described in your author comments above.

KKSlider60 responds:

It's not called the "audio" portal for nothing, isn't it? It's a valuable resource for any kind of audio, from voice acting to rock music, even noise. Having a wide variety of sounds and atmospheres is a great opportunity for Newgrounds to not rely on other sites, and thus, making it grow in popularity and usefulness. Besides, take a look around and you'll realize there are more tracks like this one, perhaps even longer, with the difference that there's no indication about the aforementioned binaural beats or crap like that. ;)
Cheers,
KKS

Not bad.

Is this your first time making an audio flash? If it is,kudos to you for a good job. However, the pitch is a little too high and it becomes something that should not be played while studying or thinking.Try a lower pitch if you are able to and it should sound quite soothing.

KKSlider60 responds:

Yes, this is an old track, so the high-pitched sound you hear is actually part of that. I should have lowered it. And... what do you mean by audio flash? It's the first track that deliberately includes binaural beats but it's also my 117th audio submission. XD
Anyway, thank you for your time and comment. ^^"

errr

im not a audio pro but i can say this is a bit crappy and hurts my ears.but i gave more scroe cuz this is your first one.hope you make better ones ;)

KKSlider60 responds:

I like turtles.

I dig this.

I really like this, but it's not having the intended effect on me. It makes me feel anxious rather than relaxed, and is something I'd imagine hearing in a horror FPS before "shit gets real".

KKSlider60 responds:

Interesting, very interesting. :)
Now that I think about it, it sounds a bit creepy, haha.
Thanks for the "report" ^^
