Decibel responds:

kk, thx for the 10 :D

Actually...

Good song my friend.

Criticism:

First off, the synths sound to raw.... or rough. You know what I mean, or you don't.
They just feel like they need more Imo.

Also you need more happening in general in the song. At points there's only one instrument going at once.

More varying melodies would also be nice... the melodies themselves are fine, they are just a bit overused. And I dont the the saw bassline. It was just too plain for my ears...

=/ I hate having so much /bad/ things to say... but theres more I'm sorry.

At 1:40... where the high melody suddenly gets intercepted by the hard bassline..... it's just too sudden. There's no transition or anything, just, Bam. And this happens alot throughout the song.... which to me gives a feel of building blocks all whacked together.

Leaving the bassling going for that long at the end is also... uninteresting.

From the start to 0:45 I really liked it though. That synth worked well, and with that bassline, and drums, combined really well. But just because that worked at the start, doesnt mean it works again. That would've been the time to ditch that particular synth, that bassline, those drums.... otherwise the song gets... stale, for want of a better word.

So.... to summarise, what you need/need to do is:

Vary your instruments, the melodies are fine, just different synths.

Change the bassline pl0x. Sure, it fits, but it's still dull Imo. Especially when it's running on it's own.

Have more things going, one synth playing is just not enough. You need harmonies, layers, all that shiz.

Transitions, thissuns a biggie. You need things fading in, fading out, being brought in by another melody, large sweeps, breakdowns even.

One thing I didn't mention, but I'll bring up, is that high melody, imo again, doesn't fit. Theres a fine low melody, and it jumps to the high one...... with the same synth.. though this may just be the lack of transitions.

I feel theres more to say but I don't want to be too much of a downer.... Because this song has a boatload of potential, melody wise. Just needs a lot of Tender Loving Care. Or TLC or however you abbreviate it.

Keep working, don't just give up, and remember some of this for future songs. :D

Later.

Decibel responds:

What a great review!
KK, the synths are z3ta+, unfortunately i had to use presets because I dont know squat on z3ta+ so those had to do =P

It does need a bit of work, im still getting used to fl9 so it didnt turn out as good as i expected but its quite a piece of work for a first timer, I guess :P

let's see, ok, the saw bassline was a try at sidechaining, it immensely sux but if i did this not half bad, te other ones would get better.

It's ok, it wouldnt be a good review if u didnt critisize, I take these as compliments on how i make it better :D dont feel bad :)

The next shall rock, Thx for the constructive critiscm,
