Alright, so I figure I'd give this one I bit of a storyline...

1st Part: Happy people enjoying themselves.
2nd Part: Aliens invade and kick some ass.
3rd Part: Happy people re-emerging and being thankful and all that crap.

Yes, aliens do make synthesizer sounds -- look it up lol.

EDIT: Fixed various things; it's a little more cleaned up now, plus I attempted to make the 2nd transition less boring.

Slow buildup, decent results.

I think that there is certainly a case of some well executed constituent parts of this piece as a whole, but there is one main issue here. 10+ seconds of silence or too little sound makes for a very boring interlude, especially when the piece as a whole just peters out.

I think that as you've got into a very good position, you're showing that you've got some great synths and a lovely sense of combining a well worked beat with that, but it needs a little something else to make it more 'up there'. As for genre, I can see why you called it Miscellaneous, because you've got something that could be dance or trance and then again, it combines with things that could be considered General Rock.

Thanks for your detailed review! As I mentioned to the other reviewers below, that silence/slow build up exit was correctly identified as the weak part of the song, and I've definitely learned something about transitions. Thank you for the kind words!

Nice

A pretty good song with a nice storyline. Not too original, but it's always nice to have a little story to an instrumental song.

I like the intro very much, the drums here sound pretty good. The transition to the second part is also done in a nice way. I like the mostly deep sounds here, I think they cover the "kicking ass" part very well.

The second part ended too quickly, though. At first I thought my speakers where broken or the song didn't load properly... you should try to fix that a bit.
I understand that the aliens are supposed to leave quickly, but the second part ends right in the middle of the riff, it seems.

Anyway, the 3rd part is a very nice outro to the song. Not too exiting, but the happy people just have to get a hang on the things again, I guess. ^^

Thanks for the kind words -- I agree with the point you made about the 2nd part cutting off, though. I'll make sure to avoid things like that in the future!

In the tradition of Vivaldi's "four seasons"

I must say I haven't really seen anyone on the portal who used music to tell a story.
This is one of the few times I don't have anything to say, other than I wish there was more...

Sincerely,

I have to admit, the story was a bit of a last minute/impulse thing, but I never imagined so many people would like that part!

Thanks for the 10/10!

Feels like water

For some reason the sound at the start that repeats makes me think of someone quickly forcing their hand through water causing a very small wave of movement. i don't really know why either, feels odd and makes me think of feet as well. At 2:18 I went what the hell thinking the song had cut off and left a huge blank gap but the beat comes back in.

Wave sound: Sounds awesome although it cuts off for a bit before it comes back in it sounds pretty awesome, did you use a guitar to get that sound?

Synth: Yet more synths, everyone loves to use a synthisizer these days, wow just wow.

Drums: Sounds amazing, enjoyed how it created an amazing feel to it.

Overall: Do not improve this, I like it the way it is.

Thanks for the kind words! Strangely enough, I didn't use a guitar at all in this song; all synths, bass, and drums (which I'm glad you liked by the way!). It's mostly me just messing around with effects and then forgetting what I did later (typical me...).

Cool!

It was cool to put a storyline between the transitions! The middle part was the best and sounded the most like invading. Also a good choice of instruments to make it sound abstract and alienistic and I am only at half at the song right now and listening to it and reviewing at the same time but why did it just stop right after the second part? That wasn't very good. You should change it and fix it but it had a pretty short third transition that kind of repeated the first.

It reminded me of Beethoven's symphonys like how it had the first part, the second exciting part, and the most enjoyable last part and I think there is a better word for Transitions in this matter but I can't figure out what the word is. I think it was awesome of you to do that even though you probably don't know much of that.

The story was cool too but there should be a part where space marines try to destroy the alien's planet THEN you go on with the invading and crap then they go back to their planet and do something fun but I guess it IS your story but I thought the instruments were well picked out and used and it had a very great "Alien Effect" through the whole thing.

Well overall you picked out the instruments well and they were pretty cool to listen to and it was very alienistic and I think you did a great job on it.

Birdinator99 responds:

Hey, thanks for the in-depth review! The transition to the 3rd part was intended to be sudden, as to resemble the aliens leaving as quickly as they came. The 3rd part isn't too exciting I suppose, but I guess I could have spent more time on it. Thanks for the 10/10 and the great comments!

Space marines, huh?
