A piece inspired by the works of Philip Glass and Steve Reich, much like the other Piano Studies. This one is probably one of the better of the whole batch.
This still has a single core that does not change too greatly (but it DOES change), and the outlying notes begin to build off of that core, becoming more and more complex. They reach outwards, trying to get away from the core notes.
This is the last of the repetitious studies in minimalism in piano that I have composed. The pieces try to make new meaning from repetition, by playing something repeatedly, it was hoped that the original motifs would lose their initial meanings and gain new ones. I wanted to experiment to see if the piano could do that. For the most part, I am pleased with how the 5 songs turned out. I hope to make an orchestral minimalist piece now that builds off of what I learned in the Five Piano Studies.
Enjoy? Hopefully.
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
