Aug 16, 2009 - Percussion volume reduced and lead volume increased. Now ear friendly.

This song is my first rock song. I am pleased with the result and I hope you are too (rate/reviews please).
In this piece, you can notice a bit of what I call my "evolution technique." Found in a handfull of my previous songs, it is basically
defined as adding on track by track and throw it all together at the end. I made sure to have harmonies a-plenty in this song, as you can notice with both strings and electric guitars plus other small harmonies here and there.
Also, the beat is 100% original along with the main melodies (verses and chorus). The harmonious strings are original too (not the fast ones), but we all know that the C G A E (Do So La Mi) sequence has been used many times over
("Cannon in D", and "I'll See You When You Get There" for instance), but is my favorite and popular amongst many.

This song is intended to be a Christian song singing about how Jesus has helped me. I want to make lyrics soon.
But even if it doesnt end up like that, I can use it for the sountrack of my Fire Side concept.
But for those who dont need Christian music, the title "Savior" is universal so don't see it as all Christian-like.

In conclusion, I hope that this song is pleasing to your ears, any comments just review and rate. Never forget that because that is what helps in making better musicians of all of us.

Interesting

Your percussion needs some serious attention, it sounds... not good.

The bass is almost oppressively loud.

Your arps are pretty cool, though they kind of show up and dip out really quick. Those transitions could use some attention I think.

There's a significant amount of clipping going on here that makes the song really unpleasant to listen to when there's a large number of instruments going at once.

The piano feels pretty muffled, it'd be nice to hear it brighter.

The overall texture of the song feels like all of your instrumentation is fighting for room. Work on your panning, composition and EQing to make this less of an issue.

Oh man fix that clipping.

The percussion sounds are definitely very false sounding.

I wrote this while listening to the song, so if it seems disordered, that's why.

I really can't comment on the composition because of the technical flaws. Sorry I couldn't be more positive, but the clipping and mixing REALLY need to be addressed. I would like to hear more rhythmic variation in your bass, eighth notes get very, very boring.

DJ-Chilvan responds:

thank you very much for the review. It has really taught me a lot. I wont remaster it now, but when the time comes i will take all of what you said into consideration. And even use what you said for the remix. Thank you very much.

An upbeat,Hopeful track, with a few minor flaws

First order of business is to say that while this may be made for christian rock, Tha shouldn't influence anyone (for good or bad) when reviewing the music. Christian rock my not be your cup of tea (It certainly isn't mine) but genre shouldn't be looked at as a detriment to quality.

That said, there are some flaws inthe song that hold it back from fully shining. First off, as onlllnk19 said, the percussion need to be tweaked. It's just a bit overpowering. Also, the bass ( and the cello? at the end) need to be looked at. The notes sometimes blended together with the percussion, so that you couldn't make out which nowte you were trying to hit. also, and this is personal opinion, it felt a little long.

On a positive note, I loved the keyboards, and even the phaser-y effect you used on some of the instruments worked well.

You're on your way to creating something very good. Cheers! :D

DJ-Chilvan responds:

I wasnt trying to use the fact that this is a christian rock song to amp up the popularity or nothin, its just what it is :)
Im sorry that I haven responded since. Thanx for the review, I've read it like 100 times and took into consideration most of what you said. Its now remastered (I will remaster it again in the near future when I get the correct tools). I am currently workin on a dance mix of the song, it will be sweet, i promise you.

oh kewl!

i think this sounds great for a christian rock song. the percussion is overpowering the lead and not in the best of ways. it kinda makes it sound messy. but yeah man lyrics are definitely needed in this. keep at it man!
