Second song of my math music project, “Innumeracy”
Innumeracy is an experimental music project that uses mathematical functions as the foundation for its melodies. Each song is derived from functions, such as sine waves, polynomials, or chaos maps, which are then transformed into audible frequencies. By mapping the function's output to the range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz, the result manifests into this. I used techniques like Fourier transforms to decompose these functions into harmonics, enabling the creation of tonal variations past one note frequencies.
I used Desmos’ criteria for what a graph should “sound” like to start, and expanded from there throughout the song.
