According to a recent theory from Brian Greene, because every particle in this universe is entangled with another and entangled particles exert changes upon the other instantaneously (faster than the speed of light), their connection is like a sort of wormhole. And therefore, the very fabric of the universe is a lattice of tiny wormholes.
