Oh no,
Pirates.
Apparently "I tried to throw a party for rich aristocrats in Britain during the late 1600's and thought my dearest boy, Reginald, had an original composition that would enamor all the guests, but then evil pirates showed up and ruined my entire day" was too long of a title.
BIG THANKS TO @troisnyx FOR VOICING THE ARISTOCRAT ON SHORT NOTICE! <3
This is my NGADM submission. I’ve decided that if I ever do this again I will NOT double up on NGADM and NGUAC because I had to finish this under crunch time.
EDIT: @aed-4 somehow managed to make the joke title work on the official NGADM brackets. Consider myself impressed.

Oh no,
Pirates.
Oh yes,
Pirates.
I didn't know what to expect after the first seconds of dialogue, but damn did this end up so unique and fun !
The instrumentation is really on point and I quite like the melodies.
I feel like the vocals are somewhat low-quality render-wise, but that adds a somewhat "cheesy" charm to the song in my honest opinion.
The storytelling was a pretty fun surprise !
If I had to nitpick, I'd say the mix could be a bit better, but mainly that a little more narration around the 2 minute mark would really hit the spot :D
The easteregg of @Troisnyx as an aristocrat is not something I expected in this piece xD
I think it could have been mixed a tad more consistently across. Just make the fuller voices/mics sound roomier and tinnier, to go with the old-fashioned feel of the dulcimer, then open up those filters and EQs as you approach the body of the piece.
I also would have liked more narration from the pirates or even a swashbuckling poem over this composition; the arrangement is great, but I have the feeling something is missing -- that you wanted to do more with it.
Some of this may be from the very dynamic (quiet) master, with little compression on the larger sections. Additionally, bit MORE dynamic range, from the light and thin dulcimer part, to the entrance of the pirates -- and a bit more fullness as we progress through the day-ruinage, entrance, and romp of the pirates -- would help considerably.
The dulcimer part may need a revisit of individual note velocities, as a period-typical (is that baroque composition?) line is bound to revisit the tonic note many times, and those samples are bound to draw attention. You may also thin out the lower mids and push the dulcimer pack just a tad. A bright, tinny sound at quieter volume, farther from the stage, would introduce another element of transition first and foremost, but add a bit of posh to the sound palette as well.
As we go forward into the composition, these are the only points I find pertinent to mention. Otherwise, your work is harmonious as always, and your overall theme is both funny and original!
Ah Troisnyx it's so great to see you release something after all those months! Even if it's not a new song it makes me so happy to know that you're still doing splendid. You gave an absolutely lovely and endearing performance as the aristocrat. Very good for the character, but still very much you!
And Irish-soul, this music is wonderful! I definitely felt that pirate vibe you were going for. Sounds like pirates of the Caribbean mixed with old flash game music in the best way possible. I do love a good sea shanty-type track myself.
Great work, both of you!

Ah hi I only release the odd collaborative effort on NG these days ❤️ The aristocrat voice, to me, was a combination of Fascinating Aïda, deeply entrenched British classism, and a lot of pearl-clutching.
Awesome!! Loved how much character was in this. Nice voice work everyone, and excellent composition as always
Please contact me if you would like to use this in a project. We can discuss the details.
