This is more of a proof of concept EP for my trash music. All tracks were either made in Bosca Ceoil or WarioWare D.I.Y., a Nintendo DS game. A-side consists of more recent tracks; B-side consists of older tracks. All of the WarioWare D.I.Y. B-side tracks were recorded via official hardware so do mind the difference in sound quality.
I started making music come February 2024. My main inspriation throughout most of this was namely Streets of Rage 3, an SEGA Genesis game with an acid techno/gabber soundtrack; and Thunder Force IV, another SEGA Genesis game with thrash metal and jazz fusion elements. I do really enjoy FM synthesis, and games that use such, in general—a recent favorite being Rocket Knight Adventures.
In making this, I did try recording Nintendo DS audio to my PC using Audacity via an AUX cord. The best I got was using an AUX cord in tandem with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter, and even then the audio was incredibly staticky. What I ended doing was creating a makeshift sound isolation chamber around my PC setup and recording via my microphone and speakers. I did consider hand-copying my WarioWare D.I.Y. tracks from official hardware to emulator; both would've been work.
Going forth, I do want to try learning more about DefleMask, a chiptune music tracker.
And if you thought "Wariocore" was a stupid concept, look up: "Amigacore" and/or "Nintendocore".
